Patch Preview: Normal Volks Grenade gone

I understand that people demanded anti-garrison measures for OKW. But part of me finds it sad to see the normal Grenade gone from Volks.
My main concern is not that they get the incendiary, my concern is that they loose the normal grenade.
From an art and design perspective, that breaks the ww2 feel a bit. With their uniforms, Volks look like your typical regular soldiers... you'd expect these guys to throw the standard-issue grenade.
The Incendiary feels more special, more like sth more specialized troops would use. In my opinion, Sturmpioneers would be the appropriate feeling unit to have such equipment.

As I said, I see what they're aiming for from a gameplay perspective. But in such a game as CoH 2, immersion and the ability of the game to evoke some sort of a general ww2 feel are important. And that change as we see it in the preview, I feel, would lessen that quite a bit actually.


TL;DR: I am not against the Incendiary Grenade per se. I am, however, strongly against the removal of the Volks' standard-issue 'Stielhandgrenade' as Volks feel and look like a unit that should have the normal, basic grenade. I don't really care if Volks or Sturmpios get the Incendiary (though I'd prefer the latter), but I feel Volks should definitley keep the 'normal' Grenade.

Agreed, might not be a bad suggestion to give the incendiary to sturmpioneers.

The incendiary grenade OR the standard grenade could be a separate upgrade that you buy at your HQ for fuel and MP (like lolotovs).

That way OKW keeps both nades but has to pay extra ressources for one of them.

If we are going to go by this logic than cons should dp28 upgrades and obers shouldn't exist let alone have stg44 upgrade. Video games are not here for authenticity especially coh2

Being a munitions based squad upgrade might not be a bad idea (OKW is already fuel starved so I doubt going the Soviet route is a good idea). Otherwise they are rather potent and an upgrade aside from the longer throw time.

lol you guys :luvDerp:

this way they won't be spammed all the time on urban maps and volks can keep their regular nades. kinda suits the Pioneers better aswell since they are specialists.

It didn't broke anything for PE in coh1, it won't break anything in coh2.

You still have an assault nade and I'm sorry, cheapest basic infantry can't have best ability kit on them to counter every single kind of threat.

If you want to talk about something that breaks ww2 feel a bit, how about you talk about volks having shrecks and not pfausts.

This, Sturmpioneers are your AI specialists, they should get the specialist grenade. The standard stick grenade is too iconic of the German Army to not exist in some form, so put it back on Volks.

Then they had better give them MP40 upgrade for super cheap, causes nades are the only good AI part of Volks, they are generally worthless until Vet 5 and the Shrek upgrade.

Its identical to the molotov, complete with the glass breaking sound at the end... from a "grenade".

This is a test preview. If They decide to add the flame nades, then we get a proper animation. Or maybe the animation is WIP.

This patch is broken. Medium tanks lost the ability to focus on vehicles, 220mortar costs the same as previous patch. I don't understand...
