Suggestion; Delete Soviet faction so I win every game because opponent is playing too hard. |
If they use Hit The Dirt, conscripts.
If they are close range, conscripts.
If both are moving, conscripts.
Everything else it's Grenadiers. Hit The Dirt has an exception if the Grens are highly vetted compared to Conscripts(Like vet 3 vs. vet 1), or the Grens use Rifle Grenades which may or may not work.
Similarly, if Conscripts out vet Grens, they'll win, and if they Oorah and get a Molotov off, they'll win. |
@UGBEAR:
Dude, you got any serious problems?
Don't see any purpose to get so personal and emotional.
For me you gave away any claim to be taken serious in this discussion with that kind of comment.
You know, I did change the example to the StuG, since i found it a more matching example but simply did forget to change the name and hitpoints cause I was in a hurry (life, you know, girlfriend, yelling etc). Post has already been edited.
pq said in a cast they wanted to buff the T34s AI (lower scatter) and the Pz4s armor fighting capabilities for its price (higher damage/shoot). If you like it or not, that's where it is going.
What I do feel though is slightly UP is the armor and/or guns penetration.
T34s armor is 115, which means penetration chances for german tanks of:
StuG: 127%
PzIV: 96%
Ostwind: 30%
Panther: 148%
... while the T34s gun with 75 penetration only has a chance of:
vs StuG: 47%
vs PzIV: 47%
vs Ostwind: 71%
vs Panther: 28%
So maybe increasing the guns penetration to 90 (+20%) and the armor to 140 (+20%) and the tables would look this.
Recieved penetration:
StuG: 100%
PzIV: 79%
Ostwind: 25%
Panther: 121%
76mm Gun penetration:
vs StuG: 56%
vs PzIV: 56%
vs Ostwind: 86%
vs Panther: 33%
It actually isn't that slight at all, might be even to much of a buff, but it adresses my main concern about the T34: it's gun being near useless vs other tanks and its sheet metal armor.
I can never be on pair with a PzIV in terms of direct fighting. Don't forget (like that bias boy UGBEAR seems to do) that the T34 is an intended infantry killing machine. I guess it should have a supportive role in armor fighting (Ram and some damage), but that's about it.

Great figures there. I'm not sure about increasing its armor value though. One of the whole points to a T34 is that its cheap and relatively vulnerable. Increasing its armor values means it'll roll all over infantry AV that bit more easily. Not to mention potential knock on effects for when it rams.
I'm all for increasing the Pen a bit and seeing what happens. |
Let's forget that it kills all the infantry inside a bunker.
And forget that with the input delay it's impossible to avoid if you throw into a clump of infantry.
And that its AOE is fucking huge.
And that it kills pretty much everything.
Let's forget all of that for a second, and focus on how it doesn't one-hit a bunker. |
Tbh I think the RTS genre needs to start evolving. It's been pretty stagnant in general for the past 7 or 8 years, in terms of concept evolution.
We need to start seeing games that have a nice, casual learning curve, but still the potential for a massive skill cap. This allows high level play to be really complex while allowing casual players to still enjoy it.
Right now, RTS games are failing to do this, and this is the reason why MOBA games are successful. By design, MOBAs are quite simple conceptually. But there's so much to them that you can play for months and keep learning and learning and discovering new aspects to the game.
Another major aspect to the failure of RTS games is performance. A lot of modern RTS games either are just too demanding graphically or are not optimized sufficiently. If you look at MOBAs, which are currently a booming genre, one of the major allures is that you can run them on a bloody toaster. Pretty much anybody can play them. Add that to the removal of the price barrier and you have instant population.
So, in short;
RTS games need to cater to more casual players whilst also allowing for development of high skill games
They need to improve their performance, focusing less on graphics and more on making it run at 60 frames for crappy computers
If they are going free to play, have a fair and balanced market with lots of new content, while allowing for free players to grind them in a reasonable time frame. Free to play in of itself attracts a lot of players, but if it's a shitty market system, not only will you lose the free guys, you'll lose paying customers.
Of course, adding a load of convienience features and having a nice UI go a very long way. |
To my mind Riot is only company that runs the whole tournament circuit for their game.
And that has worked immaculately.
Not saying that Relic/SEGA should run all the tournaments. That's insane. But official events with contracted commentators/big names that know the game are a big deal and will attract more attention than anything we can run ourselves, even if Relic promotes it.
Not that I expect that to ever happen. It seems pretty clear they're not exactly made of money at this point in time. |
1v1 = Map Control.
No map control you lose.
Soviet's main strength is early map control. If you're not dominating the map in the early game you're either not playing to the faction's strength intentionally or you're being out played.
Maybe you should try playing Germans if you prefer more defensive playstyles. |
If you're in the position where he's base raping you, you've probably lost.
CoH isn't like DoWII where you can fuck up all you want and let your enemy get the edge and still be safe inside your base. It's part of the game and it's part of needing to keep the pressure on your opponent in order to stop them getting that kind of advantage.
Also, try "running out of incendiary" while you're retreating. The biggest dick move I've ever seen in this game was my opponent dropping fire bombs in my retreat path and wiping out my entire army. |
i shared half map with my opponent in early and mid game
There's your problem. Soviets need dominant map control.
Spamming, the new way to go in coh2 ...
... Did you play vCoH? |
^^^ never seen it or done it.
You can do it. Your opponent just needs to be brain dead.
Anyways, I personally have no one favourite moment. My favourite moments in general are just the games that lead to intent cross-map microing of 5 or 6 different squads at once, and winning. That's just intense satisfaction.
For a single moment since I've played? Maybe when I fought an IS-2 for the first time and managed to keep my cool.

From that point on was pretty good on my part |
