Thread: Metascore User Score 1.7 Ouch!26 Jul 2013, 12:25 PM
You know what guys, I was wrong. Stalin was a hero. There were no purges. There were no show trials. Order 227 was never enforced. Penal Battalions are a myth. People went voluntarily to the Gulags. I'm sorry for dragging the names of over 10 million Russians through the mud. They made a valiant sacrifice to save us all from the Nazi oppressors, and they should be remembered as the heroes of World War II. Relic has truly portrayed the Russians in an unfair light here, and they're very justified in their disgruntlement. There was no massacre of Polish people - this is just a myth perpetuated by biased western media. Soviet commanders DID care about their soldiers and didn't waste them so callously. Each man in the Soviet army was happy to die for the motherland. The Nazis were not portrayed fairly at all, all the wide scale massacres of the Soviet people, killing millions upon millions of innocents, this was left unreported by the bias Relic Nazis. loljk 3rd Reich best reich. Thread: COH2 graphics compared to screenshots26 Jul 2013, 11:02 AM
Graphics are always better in early screenshots because they haven't optimized the game yet. Graphical quality always ends up worse as development progresses in order to meet the needs of lower end computers(Not very well, I'm playing on bare minimum with a quad core i7 and a mid end GPU and I still get shit frames with none of the graphical quality). In the screenshots there is also no UI, and it's zoomed out. It'll look different. I wouldn't suggest trying SweetFX without permission from Relic. It's an injector so it can be used as a hacking tool if you dick around with the settings enough. In: Lobby |
Thread: Metascore User Score 1.7 Ouch!26 Jul 2013, 09:49 AM
vCoH was never Steam exclusive until very recently when it migrated to Steam servers. The guy saved his commander executed...... the only heroism in the game and was killed by the evil red.... You didn't play the campaign. The only solution to this problem is a Mass Effect style DLC where they take 30 minutes to praise Stalin in one long cutscene. In: Lobby |

Infantry in general need to deal more damage. The metagame is too focused on MGs for any proper infantry play. In: COH2 Balance |
Thread: T34/T70; Ticking Time bomb of Imbalance26 Jul 2013, 00:55 AM
I agree that the position of balance with the T34 is incredibly precarious - it would be fine if Soviet tech weren't so awkward. Right now the T34/76 is kind of lackluster in that when you're pumping it out you'll come into contact with enemy armour very soon after, which pretty much means your scare unit that lets you dominate the field is now more or less useless. What the problem is, is that you no longer have any other tier 2 units to transition into to bring balance and be scary to the PzIV and other German tanks. The T34 is it. This role would be filled magnificently well by the SU-85 if it wasn't so powerful. It's considered too strong for a tier 3 unit as it stands, it would be ridiculous in tier 2. It's all got to do with Soviet tech. The T34 on paper is a perfectly fine tank. Arguably overpowered due to Ram(I know I've made that argument before, but on playing with it more I don't really follow that). But take into account that Soviet tech is non-linear, and because it's not linear the teching times and the costs are really high. This also explains the cheap price of the SU-85 with regards to performance. Basically, what the Soviets need to address the T34 issue, is an upgun from T34/76 to the T34/85. Reduce the anti-infantry capability and make it a challenger to tanks. Basically a Russian PzIV. Nullist has suggested this quite a few times. The problem with this would be the the T34/85 itself. Right now it's flat out a better unit. It doesn't fill a niche, it's a straight upgrade. Usually Soviets float quite a bit of munitions because they're not upgrading their infantry with weapons. So any sort of munitions cost you add to the upgun upgrade would essentially be meaningless, unless it was so absurdly high nobody would buy it. As a result, you may as well end up removing the T34/76 and replacing it with the T34/85 and boost up the price, and come up with a new doctrinal ability. Perhaps the KV-1 as opposed to the T34/85. Just my thoughts on the matter. In: COH2 Balance |
Thread: Dear Relic, can I have a word please? (Russian history)25 Jul 2013, 23:27 PM
I've yet to see a single German or American in this thread deny or glorify what their countries did during World War II. Yes they raped. But what would you do, after 4 years of pain, deaths and hell? Not that I fought in World War II or anything, but I would think after 4 years of suffering, raping somebody would not be at the fore front of my thoughts. its official now, Russians are upset about this.... Polygon, the best source of information. Now, let's break down Relic's representation of Russians. The trailer for CoH2, the "forgotten sacrifice" of the Soviet people was emphasized. It practically glorified the Soviet struggle. The first episodes of the campaign, showing the desperate circumstances of the Soviet defense and how they had to burn their own land, and the utter sadness the main character felt when he abandoned his men. I'm yet to see the villainy here. The rescue mission as Yuri who disobeyed orders to rescue a man he admired and respected. And got himself killed for it. Where's the evil Soviet? There are numerous things over and over that display Russian individuals in an extremely positive light, as selfless, heroic, and determined. There are also portrayals of people as bad, callous, and overly zealous. So? You're complaining that you have a story that has bad guys in it. You better never touch a book again in that case. And, finally, in the final cut scene, the bad guy redeems himself by killing the executioner and busting the main character out of prison. So it turns out, not even the bad guys are the bad guys. So, to summarize; You're complaining because the Main Character disagreed with the orders of his higher ups who he believed were committing atrocities. All at the same time he was praising his soldiers for their heroism. That the main antagonist during the entire story turned out to be a morally grey character who believed he was doing the right thing and, at the end had an epiphany to turn to the side of the main character. Somehow, this reads that "RELIC SAY SOVIET BAD PERSON, THIS BIAS VIEW NO EMPHASIS ON NAZI" Seriously? In: Lobby |

Why is it we let people shit talk Germans but somehow when an accurate depiction of Russia given we're fucking horrible people? Calling someone a Nazi because they're German? Seriously, <swear word> you. That's my last comment on this thread. And it should be the last comment in this thread full stop, I think it's run its course. In: Lobby |
Thread: Relic, you're doing all right.25 Jul 2013, 16:33 PM
The game needs a lot of work. It's OK for now but I don't believe it can have any meaningful longevity at this rate. I don't know the circumstances on Relic's side, but I can only assume they were in dire straits and are doing the best they can with what they have. In: Lobby |
Thread: Dear Relic, can I have a word please? (Russian history)25 Jul 2013, 16:10 PM
I think relic failed in understanding their first game title "company of heroes" (because old development team isnt there anymore). Normally heroes should give you positive feedback, by doing heroic stuff and fighting the bad/evil (ofc this is pure propaganda, but it works in entertaining you). Really? What do you think real life is? Puppies and rainbows I bet. There's no such thing as heroes. And there's no such thing as villains. They're myths perpetrated by whoever wins. Everybody is a different shade of grey and this is what I feel the source material Relic took this from was trying to portray, and it translated extremely well into the game. I can't believe you're complaining that a story is provoking an emotional reaction from you. In: Lobby |
