Lol this is so spot on! It's poorly designed that Obersoldaten that have both bundle grenades and frangibles to annihilate SMG troopers up close such as Rangers, despite having already shredded them on approach. LMG grens are better designed since they can't use rifle grenades up close, but LMG's in general still have pretty high DPS up close. There's very little downside to LMG's.
My big one: Having most infantry squads reliant on long-range DPS (LMG's) which means that instead of taking cover and tactical positioning, the optimal micro is often to just attack moving around in a blob to get max range LMG's firing ASAP.
Or: 1 man cheese snipers that discourage active gameplay and instead force opponents to surprise blob up to it to try and force it to retreat or instagib it before the player reacts.
Beyond these two, there's so much of CoH2's design that actively encourages and promotes blobbing that could otherwise be avoided. Then people are always so surprised and disgusted to see people blobing.
We've talked about it before in other threads, but the maps and the way they are laid out definitely play a part, i think. There aren't too many blind spots and chokepoints on a lot of the newer maps, and this would make it a bit easier for the more close range specialists to close in and do their thing.
Also, blobbing squads together of pretty much any type, close or long range, really discourages dedicated CQC units because its so much easier to wipe them, as they have to get close and put themselves in more danger. |
No, no plans to buy for the following reasons, which you can consider equivalent:
- The price, the huge price and the abolition of regional prices.
- Authenticity
- Factions: same factions for the third time, no thanks. There is no Italy in the game about the Italian Theater of Operations. Further Eastern Front without the USSR.
- Dynamic campaign is not interesting, in the test of this campaign there was only a huge boredom. The campaign in the Company of Heroes is a story about people in the war; in the first part it was done well, in the second it was bad, in the third it apparently did not have enough scriptwriters. I liked the German mission more, but for the sake of one campaign it makes no sense to spend a lot of money
So the third part now just does not give me a reason to buy and interest. And in general, friends with whom I played the first and second parts share the listed points and will not buy the game. One of my friends only has a PS4 and there is no reason to buy the game either, there is no cross play.
Cool. |
I disagree, the whole idea to make CoH2 e-sport and move this topic was a complete failure. Most people are not interested in watching other people's games because the human body is so obstinate: it is more interesting for him to do it himself. For me personally, and for most of the people I know from CoH2, tournaments don't matter and have never been watched or played in tours.
Interesting basic gameplay as well as high-quality modding that constantly adds all sorts of new content, that's what, in my opinion, is the main thing in order to keep interest even without the support of the creators.
Just out of interest, are you still planning on not buying or playing the game because it won't be authentic enough for you? |
Looking at Rumatinez reply I would for sure leave rof the same as it is. Supression dealt if it had lower rof would be cool though yeah. Getting shot at by a sniper would definitly force you to prone lol.
Yeah, i do like the idea of them dealing very long range supression but with much, much slower ability to rack up kills, but i understand that it could be a nightmare to balance. Maybe not even suppression, squads that've been hit could maybe take a slight penalty to their accuracy for a small duration, just to simulate that the squad knows they are being lined up and therefore need to be cautious. Maybe the sniper could even NOT have a 100% chance to hit the target every time.
Bit of a pipedream... Some interesting ideas here though. I wonder if they'll just end up being exactly the same in the third game. Hopefully not. |
The tear down idea is super interesting. Increase the range, nerf the rof and give it the cone vision.
It's like an infantry pak43 that can't shoot through buildings.
If you leave it behind without support, it's pretty vulnerable to flanks.
If they ended up being percieved as 'bad' due to the rate of fire nerf, perhaps they could have a bit more supression worked into their kit, instead of it being gated by an ability/munitions. Though i dunno, i could see that being quite oppressive if its done wrong, just an idea. |
Fuck it. Command and Conquer Red Alert style Tanya/Boris unit. What could go wrong. |
Didn't used the word unfair, soviet sniper and tech around is fine and balanced. Ostheer's one isn't.
Fair enough Esxile. You did not use that word, I did misrepresent your point a bit there. Apologies.
Was mainly triggered by Katukov making the discussion about his usual agenda. |
he got called biased because he said that wehr snipers don't need to sacrifice support weapons while soviet ones do (Ukf doesn't either, but they're UKF, lol)
aight
For implying that it is somehow unfair that the Soviet sniper can quite easily be supported by a different set of units, yes. "Extended Vision" being perhaps the only genuinely fair comment in his post. Your point was even dumber. |
Soviet sniper isn't really a problem since they don't come with appropriate support before long, you can easily force him with a good push.
Ostheer sniper is an issue because you can have it, an hmg, pioneer with extended vision and a gren squad without much sacrifice early game then you get more grens and fast 222.
Lol yep the usual bias. The exact same thing from Katukov, as usual.
Making them even more vulnerable on retreat is a possibility... though I find the cone idea more interesting. Anything that would force the player to support them more to be effective would be a good idea I think.

Not a huge fan of them either, though if every faction has access to them that would be a step in the right direction. |
