But good luck with that. I have to attack one obersoldaten with 3 squads in order to prevent any of my squads from getting wiped.
If you have damage spread out, your 3 squads would receive LESS damage. That´s the problem with upgrade/specialized weapons. You keep your dps even if you drop models.
AND if your concern is recrewing weapons with elite units, the 25% increase receive accuracy in combination with the high cost of the unit makes them unreliable.
Theres a reason you don´t want to recrew an MG with, let´s say, PGs.
Note: there was a time on the game history that MG42 "OP" crewed by either Penals or Shocktroops in combination with merge (OHMYGODTHEUTILITYSOOP) was kinda pretty scary.
