Thought I'd make a thread on two things I've noticed over the past three days. played about 6 1v1s, 8-10 4v4s 4 3v3s
1. I've noticed that for some reason when in a 3v3 or 4v4 and it is all ost players for axis their tends to be one person who says something about how all ost is a fail and not going to play a 20 min loss match. Of course when he drops an AI takes over and then it really does become a much harder to win fight. This happened about 5 times in the 4v4 and 3 times in the 3v3.
2. Allied Meta seems to have either been figured out, most allied teams are pre-made, or my team consistently sucks. More than likely a mix of a figured out meta and a few team mates who are still trying to improve. The usual topic of discussion is Axis late game is superior in every way to Allied and at that poit it takes a miracle for them to win. I've been observing a picture that doesn't exactly match that. Granted the last 4 games I played there was not a single KT used, panthers and a few tiger I's were the main stay, but the m4c's, b4's, m36's, su-85's, and a few kv's. I found it to be quite potent. There was never a game where we just ran throguh our opponents as it is to be expected by the current trend of open threads.
It might be the SU was propping up the USF in these matches since now looking at it the most issue came from the SU call-ins/doc. Now the issue with this is exactly what proceeds this sentence, the call-in. You may say those string of matches were not the norm but it occurred nonetheless. The call-in is strong but negates the need or desire for building tech. Other than the ele. JT, and tiger (I did not include tiger ace as I only saw one once and i directly attribute it to my allies side falling cause of the mechanics of calling in and having one) axis tends to not rely on docs/calll-ins to carry them. in fact I would argue depending on a doc/call-in solely right now in the way the SU does it as Axis is a good way to lose a match.
Bottom line Allies are not necessarily in the hole as bad as claims are and the call-in meta..should be looked at it. |
Yeah right, give map control away to volks, lose early game and GG
He's not kidding. Coordinated maxim spam in team games can lock okw out of an area. Back it up with an at gun. Wait for stuka to clear it out but that takes time.
in a 1v1..its not as strong and I can see the bad investment there. |
Greyhound is a doctrinal unit and comes into game at a point when volks have shreks, sho mines are planted and raketenwerfer waiting in the bushes
so what does OST do? The trend atm is if something allied is up the counter via OKW is the answer. Though in this case the okw dont have a insta solution other than mines prepared ahead of time. Personally i always have a rakten out in case of clown cars and fast aa ht. As ost, I have seen the thing come before a pak is out. |
This unit is useful as many other call in from other generals.
I think there is many more important balancing issues that should be discussed before this one should ever be.
The new cover system is what made this unit more deadly, as now are grenades or the main gun of many tanks.
This unit is particularly vulnerable to mines, to shrecks and pumas, so the best way to fight it is to be prepare. The moment you know that this commander is chosen, you know what you have to do, just do it.
the usual timing of the thing, hits around when there is little AT and definitely not a puma. Mines are a good bet since it has to drive up to you to do the wipes anyhow. |
The greyhound was aiming at the sturms and the volks were behind said sturms in the side of the building with all the windows open.
Thats like a pak40 shooting at something, missing, and then the shell flying all the way across the map and hitting an ambulance. Nurf Pak40
I do agree though in this case the greyhound and squad grouping does need a nerf.
Buff main gun to stuart level with lower ROF, give it smoke and maybe more expensive mines instead of canister, and give it skurts by default. Fixed.
the clip was just to emphasize the cone of devastation the thing has. Agree on your points though, minus the skirts for default. |
Pretty interesting considering canisters actual AoE and the fact that cover, including garrison cover gave you pretty great chances of surviving.
Makes it a huge bizarre "what the.." moment. How high is the crit chance on that thing? |
Which is funny, because thats pretty impossible unless you have a rep.
Unless you meant stuka by a chance.
Here is your replay. Watch from the 14 second mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n8fme1ncWAU |
The RG can happen to an maxim this is true, but the damage difference is what makes the two scenarios more hurtful than the other. A good german player should not be blobbing it's not designed well for the German units. I personally thought the original concept of the maxim was an assault weapon, while the mg42 was a defensive weapon. With the current balance I don't know what the dev team wants. |
