With volley fire it is damn effective, but I guess you know it.
What bothers me with Sturmpios is the RNG based model loss, way too much mp loss, same applies to FJs.
That's CoH2 for you. Panzergrenadiers have been suffering from the same issue since the game came out. An aggressive shock unit is highly reliant on RNG to actually work. The Allies seem to be pretty safe in that regard as their shock units are each 6 models(But doctrinal). |
Single Player DLC? Yes
Expansion packs with new content(Like WFA)? Yes
DLC Commanders? No
The whole qualification of "If DLC Commanders are balanced, it's fine", is really just pointless. They wont be balanced. Relic's games are rarely balanced. If you're pumping out DLC, it definitely wont be balanced. And if it's balanced tomorrow, it'll become unbalanced the day after when new content is added.
And that's just talking on a mechanical level. The whole idea of paying for extra options is not balanced. If someone can do more things than you can because he paid more, it isn't balanced.
The Spoils of War system is by far the best way they could have done this. I get that people are annoyed that the cash they spent seems wasted, I also paid money, but tbfh we had a lot of time to use most of the content and now it's time for a fairer system to come along.
This discussion would not be happening had the option of buying/selling commanders as DLC never arisen in the first place. |
Rear Echelons are perfectly fine. If you nerf their volley, it wildly unbalances the USA vs OKW match up. Equipping a heavy weapon on them is hardly ever worth it due to how squishy they are, unless they're vet 3.
If you're complaining about a Bazooka RE killing your car, you have other problems. Namely the utter incapability to micromanage your units and capitalize on economic edge.
REs are the quintessential support unit. You put them at the back to support your Riflemen. They fail at anything else.
Zero damage, zero durability, one actual use. Probably the most balanced unit I've seen from WFA. |
This may be a windows 8.1 thing. It happens to a lot of games, and one of the recent 8.1 updates seems to have made it even more frequent.
Search Windows 8.1 on google and you'll see it's very common. The Microsoft site has a huge thread on it.

This thread mentions some fixes but I just found it now so I have not tried any of them.

Hah, wow.
So it happens when it's playing a game in a different resolution to the desktop?
I'll have to go from 1360x768 to.... 1366x768. I didn't even notice they were different. Hopefully that'll fix it.
I also found this thread on Relic's CoH forums, so it may not be totally the fault of Windows here;

Unless you're extremely lucky with dice rolls, Sturmpios tend to straight up beat Rifles. I've had Rifles win due to a number of factors, but it's usually because they all end up shooting the same model.
Volley Fire is extremely effective though.
When I play CoH2 I like to draw parallels between this game and DoW2, and I peg the Americans as Space Marines and OKW as Orks. In the same way Scout had to babysit Tactical Marines and Shotgun Blast melee units off them, Rear Echelons play an extremely strong supporting role for America's infantry.
If Volley Fire wasn't so vitally important to the OKW vs USA match-up, I'd even say it was too potent. |
I don't see the problem. Being over the popcap is a double edged sword. |
Hopefully there is, Relic does great campaigns(We'll forget about Retribution). |
Yup, this is definitely a memory leak. |
So, most of the time I play CoH2 I'm running into this problem where my system notifies me that CoH2 has run out of memory to use. Unless there's a gigantic memory leak that I'm missing, I have an abundance of memory. 8GB of RAM and 2GB dedicated vRAM on top of that. There should be no issues at all with memory.
This is an entirely recent phenomenon for me, where it either freezes my game straight off(And crashes it, losing me the game), or even in the worst case it has caused a Blue Screen crash but with no defined error(A SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION which is very broad/nonspecific).
Generally, however, I've just gotten the popup saying there's no more memory or a crash with the Relic Bug Splat screen asking me what happened.
My system is as follows;
OS: Windows 8.1 64-bit
CPU: i7 Q3610M 2.3x4GHz(3.2x4GHz Turbo)
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M /w 2GB vRAM
8GB RAM
I meet all the required specs. I just don't know what the issue is because it is becoming a serious problem for my play. |
Oh my god you are that blind? Even if you do micro constantly and not get run over, it does not matter. Your first engage ment will be ruined by the fact that it will simply crush your cover and push your units around making them not fire, or fire with reduced accuracy. It is simply not fair.
What is with the hostility? I explained a way to mitigate the problems a very obviously broken mechanic creates. I'd rather talk about how to deal with the problem while it gets fixed. |
