K, I didnt post this in the balance thread cause I'm pretty sure no one will give a crap about updating this stat. I'm just looking to see weather there is a consensus on using an alternative doctrine-based unit due to this.
This post was made before the bundle nade buff;I don't know, maybe its worth the wait these days. |
I guess a saw obers as inf that could take some damage, but they seem less tough than they look. Sometimes it seems like they start to dish out good damage, but then you gotta run back before you know it (and freaking wait for them to reinforce longer than the time they spend fighting) |
That sounds interesting. Micro-instesnive, but efficient on some level.
My main problem is that average lifetime of a kubel is extremely low. They get chased down by light vehicles super fast. I find that if i dont use the kubel as bait into raketten/mines by the 4 minute mark I will lose it anyway. I tend to miss this mark alot as i try to cap like crazy with it and lose track of time. Once their light vehicles hit the field, there is no chance of surviving, you can only hope to take out their light vehicle when they dive. |
Yeah, not realy sure what Grens are for anymore. |
Agreed with OP. Sturm role is overburdened now. They suffer from the same syndrome Heretics did in DOW2; they are the solution to too many problems. We need some role diversification.
But I disagree with OKW AT sucking now more. We have all the things we had before (a bit awkwardly, I'll admit), BUT we get a faust snare. |
I never knew what the problem with Shreck Blobs were in the first place. Volks ostensibly become a dedicated AT infantry in late game if upgraded with Shreck. And i mean that in a sense where they cant stand up to any other vanilla infantry enemy counterpart and win 1 on 1.
There were no high ranking replays of this problem properly demonstrated.
Now we have these elaborate patches to revamp a faction because of shrek blobs? Its a solution in search of a problem. OKW was pretty unique with mainline infantry having awesome AT i t1. Now they are just like Ostheer inf (just more mobile).
You show me a high ranking shreck blob replay and I will show a replay of a zook blob thats way more unstoppable. Lets revamp USF then; lets take away zooks and give them BARS. No wait, they already have those ... crowBARs then!

Only sadness.
Angelos looks and walks like a moba wizard. His sweep ability looks like a wizard effect. He's not a freaking psyker! Stop putting excessive eddies, bubbles and graphics over AOEs abilities. This will turn into seizure inducing moba before you know it.
The cover system speaks for itself. There are 3 fences and if you stand in them you get bonus defense. Yay!
Target-indicating pointing lasers? I pretty much only saw these for weapons that have no visible projectiles (bolters). That seriously is bad as far as consistency goes with what is real and overlayed.
Looks like the game will require alot of space for these "massive" battles. I think we are looking at starcraft maps.
Unless they do fundamental overhaul to bring this back into a serious RTS within grim dark future it deserves to be set in (the opposite of what Rogue One is getting) then we have already seen the best of what DOW3 can offer, which is the trailer.

I like the bounce in his step. Maks the SM seem a bit more upbeat than usual. Maybe he is giddy to be in combat again. But yeah, he totally looks like Arthas from WC3. Nostalgic .... just not in a good way. |
Does anyone else think that the reinforce rate is a bit too slow for these guys? It seems like the models fly off almost as fast as any other 4-man squad, but it just takes for ever to get them back into the fight, especially with them not being fast runners. I just started noticing that they really throw of my rhythm and everyone waits on them when i want to make a coordinated attack.
Is the reinforce speed something that was left over from when they were terminators? I guess what I'm asking is how other OKW elite infantry reinforce speed is like, does anyone else opt out and use doctrinal inf instead of Obers for that reason? Do other doc-based inf reinforce faster? |
Your biggest problem is not focusing on a fuel and floating. A kubel is not a great choice on this map, but whatever, once you have it you need to take your fuel. You let your opponent just push you off the field without holding anything important, and he was taking triple your fuel income for the majority of the game. Most of the reason for that is you kept floating so much manpower. 700 manpower float at 7 mins is pretty much gg, you can't hold any map presence in the early game with that high of a unit deficit. You could have had 2 whole sturmpios ffs. That's why he had so much more units than you, and that's why you held none of the map the whole game.
Flak halftrack is a bad choice in general, but it's awful on La Gleiz. Too easy to flank it. Better to save the fuel for a faster t4. So it's midgame now and you still haven't picked a doctrine, and you are still floating, and you don't have t4 out yet because of lack of fuel. At this point you should be picking luftwaffe or scavenge and bringing in some call in infantry. You were behind in map presence and unit count, and you know the opponent is making rangers, so go ahead and bolster your troops. By the time you had the fuel saved up to build t4 and make obers you were already floating 1000 manpower at 16 mins and had no field presence. There is basically no way to come back from that, and you only stayed in the game as long as you did because your opponent was a moron.
Random tips:
- Work on your unit micro and retreat sooner; you got really lucky multiple times retreating nearly dead squads with a sliver of health and not getting wiped
- Focus on holding atleast one fuel and munitions point
- Don't blob so much, spread out and use cover better. It's more efficient.
- Keep an eye on your resources to make sure you don;t float too much. If you aren't saving manpower for something anything over 500 is too much. Especially in the early game where your infantry engagements are most important.
- Kubel is not good on building heavy maps, flak halftrack is just always bad versus usf.
Thanks for watching.
I was floating cause I'm not use being squeezed for fuel. I usually start loosing alot later when I have more units to micro; I was expecting myself to tech sooner. I wasnt sure if buying more grens was a good idea, otherwise i didnt know what else to buy in early tiers. I really needed good infantry-based anti-infantry. I couldn't get the Obers out in time. I also wanted supression to deal with the inf blob, thats why i got the flak-track. Its just kinda annoying to have pick a doc just to deal with a zook rifle blob.
What should I have spent my req on early in the game? Should I have just gone for some jaegers?
Thanks again. |
