Only the mentioned 10% Vet up bulletin. That's why as a sign of protest I troll around with 3 of them stacked.
It's a damn shame how KT is being treated, bulletinwise and regarding the recent armor and blitz nerf.
Presently and effectively since IS2 has an armor bulletin and KT doesnt, it's armor value can be greater than that of the KT, which is imho, plain silly.
On the other hand with blitz bein' marginally useless on the KT, the unit really lacks any kind of countermeasure except it's potent frontal armor, which is also debatable after the nerf..
I see fewer and fewer Tiger II's in even large team games, and there's a an obvious reason behind it.
all trucks converted, too expensive, too late, and too vulnerable to practically anything except infantry.
"swarm" of (two) mediums own it, ranged tank hunters own it, airstrikes own it, even smart arty play owns it.
So Sapienti sat.
I would really love to see some kind of buffs to the KT at least in the form of available upgrades..
Why not give it the possibility of armor re:buff in form of zimmerite coatings for 50 ammo ?
Smoke, spotting scopes whatever.. 'cause in this state this big cat is destined for extinction ;O
KT's are good primarily for parade in an already won battle. I should know, I make one, or at least try to - in every game. If the game is least competitive, as soon as u manage to squeeze one out, you'll get spanked with the sudden T34/85 swarm, E8 swarm, double Jacksons + P47, double IS2's, or if you try to use it aggressively, you'll get a cold shower in the form of multiple SU's, or Zis guns.. It literally makes no sense unless you're steamrolling your opponents as it is. It's suposed to be a premium unit, but as of now, there's nothing really premium about it, except the looks of it.
Frontal armor needs to go back where it was, so at least you're rewarded for right positioning of the tank, and keeping it's flanks secure. And I never understood why unit so expensive doesn't have more versatile upgrades available ? Engine upgrade for fuel ? Zimmerit upgrade to the armor ? Advanced optics for range etc. So what if someone wants to invest a shitload of resources to one beast of a unit ? It's highly risky for morale and economy to lose such bag of gold., and sort of high satisfactory if u manage to turn some tides with it.
but I guess it's better to encourage the meta of making the 5th volks squad equipped with 90ammo shreck ...
This is more about the balance itself than the large team games, but here's an idea that seems to me - would do much for the balance equilibrium of coh2.
Tbh I was very surprised when I realized that they made the KT non doctrinal unit. I actually like it, since it gives the feeling of complete and well rounded faction to OKW, with which you do not necessary have to choose the spec. doc. to build your early to late (game)play.
and personally I never understood why they didn't build all the other factions that way ?
Give 'main heavy tank' to all factions, and you proly solved the vast majority of balancing problems for the large team games.
So every faction gets to build their non doc. Heavy tank from their HQ, after they do all the teching. just as OKW.
So obviously soviets get IS2, Ostheer gets Tiger I, and USF get Pershing - finally !?
The main problem would be, the redesign of those 'few' Soviet and OstHeer doctrines that are carried by the Tiger and IS2, but it shouldn't be impossible to implement/patch !? Just add another cool ability, or specialized unit in their old spot and we're set.
That would actually deal with many undesirable effects of the gameplay that we're seeing now. every faction would have it's heavy late game contender, and I bet that we would be seeing quite a boom with all those forgotten doctrines, that are seldom used, since majority of players follow the so called meta, of the Call in Tigers and IS2's. Doctrines are supposed to complement play styles with cool abilities, some battle group's (T34/85, PZIV's) and Highly Specialised Vehicles (Elephant, JT, ISU152, Command Tanks etc.) Heavy tank should be an option for every faction, every player, every game.
I am sure that with such mechanic, factions would be far more balanced throughout the game, early to late, and there would be less irrational moves as the latest KT nerf, in the silly attempt to tone down the faction itself.
This thing needs a turret rotation speed increase. My goodness it is slow.
It needs something ! prepatch it was so expensive, so late, therefore so rare, and counterable in the "plethora" of ways.. and above all hardly anyone complained about it. And then they triple nerf it in some bizzare attempt to nerf the whole faction overall !?? Nevermind the price and everything u sacrifice the mid game to get it, let's look at it's cons: slow in all departments - one T34/85 in 1vs1 wins against it. Simple truth. it's pathetic range (for such a premium tank and that particular gun) makes it a easy target for all the SU's, ISU's, Jacksons etc. That tank is built exclusively around the idea of it's potent punch and survivability. You actually can't micro it, u can only put in the reverse and hope you make it out alive, and with Jackson spam lately, it rarely happens. If that tank was practically impenetrable from the front, it would still be balanced. Problem was I guess in the perception of the players, and the nature of the individual game.. KT would either be a rub it in/nail to the allied coffin - layin' waste to the desperate (already defeated) allied army with zook spam leaving only scratches on it's front, or the Joke/punching bag for the Allies to troll and dance around during the futile Axis last stands. It's still fun but also the frustration to use fetish unit - for those who really love it, but goin' for it actually works very well against you in general. Historical accuracy ? - I don't even want to start.
Balance patch notes makes OKW fanboys quit?
Can't wait how great it will be when it hits live.
Roots of OKW fanboism are dying out like flies while only enforcing everyone in conviction that these were simply players looking for easy wins on overpowered army.
Well, that time is about to end!
easy wins ? well that's why I guess I have that frightening 50% w/l ratio
I'm quite amused with your zeal over something as game modification lol.. it obviously deals an inspiring effect on an entity such as yours.. but then again, you've got 4K+ forum posts about a game, so you're in a league of it's own. I've obviously wandered off on your territory ! I'm sorry ;/
yet leaves a game once his op faction is a ,little less op..
But yea im biased
just count your lil' forum posts, then try to read a few.. I play games for fun, u obviously play so you can weep in the forums with thousand of tears and posts how there is no balance in your fav game. With this "patch", I'll find my fun elsewhere.. u'll still be stuck in the same sad place unsatisfied with something. Just wait up, it'll come up, in the form of Jagdpanther or whatever.. don't worry lil' queeny u'll be unhappy again so your lil' fingers can roar their biased lil' sonnets ! hahaha
To let the game play out for 6 months one way, then make such overall (Volks, Obers, KT) nerf to one faction is plain senseless.
Cost of the Obers lmg is fine and logical imo, but to reduce it's damage output also in parallel is too harsh.
Volks on the other hand should've been nerfed even more, or to be exact the way they rank up should be nerfed instead.
KT armor nerf (with Jackson Pen buff) was a complete and utter BS., I'll be honest KT is my fav unit, so I'm quite familiar with it's strength and weaknesses. I almost fanatically try to build it every game, and I only succeed that in most of the games where I forfeit all other vehicles, which is a highly risky game, not to say suicidal.
That vid that everyone and his allied grandma is raving about is pure statistical fantasy. I haven't been able to pull something like this out in hundreds of games.. and I bet scenario like that one (KT > 4-5 Zis guns) will happed every 500 games or so. It's pure luck on the KT's part. Fact. What about it's ridiculous (slow) speed and completely historically unrealistic range of 40 !? That wasn't enough for allied players to chew it through for such an premium costly unit ? Two slightly ranked up Jacksons have kept my two KT's at bay for an hourlong game, simply by utilising their range advantage. Waste of all that fuel on my part.. As I've seen the game where 5 KT's went down on account SU85 + Jackson spam.. On the topic of IS2 vs KT.. I'll just add.. since the many of the IS lovers out there use the IS armor bulletins, vast majority of the ingmae IS2's will have stronger frontal than the KT. Since the ol' KT doesn't have any.. Sapienti Sat.
I'm pushing a pause on CoH2, until further development.
