Stop this nonsense. Both kubel and hmg42 suppress in first burst. Where maxim advantage in suppression? It have both disadvantages in suppressing single squad, AoE suppression, and arc of fire. In 1v1 maxim vs hmg42 duel it all comes down to who start firing first and have better cover.

Removing increased accuracy from hmgs is terrible idea, because hmg 42, which can pack under fire of flanking conscripts and walk away into safety of firing arc of other hmg untouched is one of the coh2 horrors which should never be brought to life again.

Maxim also supresses with first burst. And both Maxim and HMG42 supress with two bursts vs. yellow cover. Green cover is a bit weird for every MG atm, mainly due stray entities that aren't really covered.

Maxims advantage isn't in crowd control. It has a way faster setup time with a more durable 6 man crew, so it can be used more easily as a surgical supression platform in an offensive, while being less prone to being flanked by faster de-setup and re-positioning.

Keep in mind: the grass isn't always greener on the other side.

So, this patch allies cant blob, but axis can blob just fine even against multiple maxims. Is it fine to you?

It has a way faster setup time

Only advantage alongside with turn rate left.

jump backJump back to quoted post27 Jun 2015, 19:11 PMkamk
with a more durable 6 man crew

Against higher dps squads and rifle grenades. It is not advantage, it must-have option to keep it alive.

.

Yes, but in comparison to current hmg42 maxim looks very bleak.

I'm not sure about only 1 squad, but what about 2 squads behind green cover? Isn't that the problem now ?

The new incremental accuracy now means that bunching a bunch of models up in cover even if it's green means you will get suppressed pretty fast.

This ofc punishes Soviets the hardest due to them all having 6 man squads, and Ost the least.

It's not only bunching up, since having one squad by side another will produce the same effect.

Large squads in general tend to "bunch" when entering cover so that's I meant mostly.

Really the factions that suffer the most right now from the new changes are Soviets and OKW. Soviets large squads by default cause them problems with MG's and OKW has no smoke or cheap indirect fire to push MG's away off of points.

Soviets handle MGs just fine imo.

What a lot of people don't get is that an MG42 heavy BO sucks late game. Superior Allied indirect like the new SU76M and the HMC will pick you apart. You also lack fausts en mass, meaning blitzing mediums can subdue AT guns.

The new MG changes do hurt USF, but this is because as an army they simply don't scale and punch under their weight.

You can type tons of smart looking text. Unfortunately it is irrelevant. Fact is that maxim is a total trash. Waste of spot that in T2 tab that could be used for normal unit.

Allies never was able to blob. Its axis main tactic for long time at any level.

Relic stream confirmed that the maxim is bugged and didn't receive the incremental changes it was supposed to. Meaning it will get it's incremental accuracy and search modifiers buffed next hotfix.

haha, you presume quite a bit unless they explicitly told you there would be a second one.

the point of an MG heavy strat is to lockdown the map and prevent a lategame though. how effectively it works depends on the players, the map, balance of the units, available options, etc, and may or may not actually be a problem but the whole point of MG heavy stats is to hold points while bleeding as little as possible in order to get late game units out as fast as possible.

lol guys....the maxim an HMG can only SUPPRESS.....one squad, Balenced game. If Maxim gets buffed game will totally break, meta blows up, and the whole forms will be in an uproar.:snfPeter:

come on giving this unit reasonable suppression wont blow up the entire game and make it impossible to play. It should be expected that the maxim can suppress units in its fire arc.

It can suppress single squads fairly fast. The issue Dusty brings up is that the Maxim used to have AoE suppression and high damage and it was brutally OP.

It having more survivability would help make it better without returning us to those dark days.
