Which faction is most challenging for you?

I find USF the hardest on to play as, then Soviets followed by OKW. Wermaht is the easiest one to play for me.

In this patch, Wehr is by quite a margin the most challenging faction to play with, followed by Soviets, OKW, and USF. Soviets, when well played, (or just cheesed) are the most challenging to play against...depends on the map though.

1v1 Ostheer is tough for me. I feel like I am on the back foot all of the time and stretched thin. In team games when I don't have to worry about getting flanked I'm pretty good with them though.


Team games I find US the hardest. You have to micro like crazy just to get mediocre results. Even on games where I really do well my damage done compared to opponents is not near as high as I can get it with Soviets.

Every faction has their thing which can be used to good effect in team games by just about everyone. Sov=snipers and maxims, b4, ISU, etc. Ost=combined arms of doom, Tigers OKW=Sweet heavy tanks, obers. US=???


In team games USF gets the fantastic M8A1 Scott, the ultra-powerful (yet unreliable) Jackson and the brutal P47 strafe.

I find every faction challenging to play because I'm a bear and my paws don't fit on the mouse very well.

I actually find USF the hardest early game but the strongest mid game, no idea why.

Once I have four vetted Riflemen armed to the teeth lead by an officer and supported by light vehicles, I feel like nothing can stop me.

Wehrmacht because you're expected to take being slapped around all early and mid game until you can finally start striking out against the enemy.

The most challenging I find OKW.. Like SPiiTFiiRE88 described, I also just suck with that. Also I don't find it really appealing. Maybe it's also since I don't know how to play effectively with it.

The most appealing I find USF or Ostheer. Although USF has paper thin armor, I enjoy Jacksons. They are so deadly when microed properly. Ostheer has some cool toys like Tigers and Brummbär :D .

USF early game is easiest. They shred a lot of Grens and can hold a lot longer inside buildings. Their late game is hardest.

OKW is just the hardest

Ostheer is second

Soviets easiest ATM to me.

US - even with a good microcontroller, this fraction is difficult and boring
The Red Army, the Wehrmacht - Normal
OKW - easy, playing a lot of fights in the USSR where a lot microinspection, OKW with stronger units very easy

The most popular strategy all the USF players use is so hard to beat, I guess I lack the patience. LMG/BAR blobs negate your infantry and are nearly impossible to contain using MG42s.

Mid-late game the P-47 kills your tanks with one click and you can't even repair them because the repair pioneers will die. During this time the USF's infantry can take the entire map and you have to push in after repairing your tanks, if they are still alive. Then the second strafe hits and you're back to square one. Rinse and repeat. Not very interesting let alone fun for the wehrmacht.

Without P-47s it's fair because you can actually counter the blobs.

Reading this thread I'm quite surprised. There are many people who think OKW is the hardest to play faction. I must say that a couple of months ago I thought that too. And I still think that decisions while playing OKW are crucial. The wrong decision can cost you the game, because you cannot come back and pick another trail. On the other hand, it has the most powerfull units in the game and with proper micro you can theoretically keep pace with anything the opponents throw at you. I would say about OKW that if you learn how to play it, it can become an easy faction. Volks are more reliable than grens, they aren't melting so quickly. Sturmpios repair twice as fast as pios and are excelent combat units. Kubel, don't need to say more. Puma, a decent unit for middle game. Everything OKW has is good quality and reliable and this compensates for its poor fuel income. It compensates, it doesn't make it OP.

For once, I agree with what VonIvan said about Ostheer and USF being the harddest to play. USF for late game and Ostheer for start game.

Also one thing that can be seen from reading this thread that it's nice that everyone has their own preferences.

E.g. I disagree completely with Crecer13 above, I find USF really interesting and fun to play.

it's still the USA and the Soviets that are the most challenging to play with.

The OKW is still the most powerfully faction : Stuka, Ober blob e.t.c.

That's true...it would be so awesome if there were some kind of mechanic to allwo USF to pick up infantry weapons from vehicles; simulating that they were ferried to the front lines from HQ. Let's say, if you're close to a vehicle, you can arm from there or something.
