When closing in in open field ass grens can't even close in on conscripts without loosing 1 or 2 models, 2 conscript squads will even shred a squad of ass grens.
They are only useful in around the corner engagements or when using sprint to close in early. Otherwise they can't handle any other units when frontally moving to them. Conscripts will kill ?? 2 models ?? when walking straight up to them.
I think they are a niche unit that is pretty nice where it is now. Reinforcement cost should maybe be a little lower. I tend to use them the only first 5-10 minutes of the game and after that I don't reinforce them anymore and just send what remains of them to cap points and annoy the opponent untill they die. I have the impression their vet bonuses barely buff them and even at vet 3 they die like flies.
The only thing that stops LMG blobs atm is the fact gren squads are 4 men so have to retreat fast upon being hit by indirect fire. 5 men gren squads will be completely overpowered and will kill anything in their path.
I think it's fine as it is. The only difference is that they need to nerf handheld AT especially shreks on Volks.
The problem comes from the fact mediums cannot effectively flank OKW heavies to block/ram shoot in the back because volksblobs can effectively one shoot a lot of medium tanks. Another solution would be to make medium tanks still drive relatively fast even with damaged engine.
Problem is volks just don't get wiped. I have so many 2v2 games where allies have full map control but those volks blobs just keep coming back and at some point when they have 3+ vet and shreks with some obers + any heavy tank they just start walking over any defenses. You just can't do anything to stop the shrek blob. Shoot katyusha they just retreat and they are back before the barrage is off cooldown.
