In my opinion one of the main problems in 3v3+ is, that the allies can't use their superior mobility to full capacity. The map is just too crowded in these gamemodes. I also often see allies trying to win the "call-in" game, while this might work in 2v2 or 1v1, it's not gonna cut it in 3v3+. As Austerlitz stated, waiting for call-ins as allies will result in a loss of pressure around midgame, that gives the axis just enough time to recover.
If you want to beat axis late game, there's above average teamwork and coordination needed. |
Well the explosive thing is gone, fine.
But you can still turn your grens into immortal supersoldiers for a lousy 10 muni per crate.
I would be fine with both of the OP's suggested changes. |
Why not increase resistance of the FHQ to Stuka strikes and flames and let engineers repair it, and in exchange it takes awhile to set up, can only be built on owned territory, and can be decapped? That way everyone will be happy (or everyone pissed off, I don't know).
Good idea. |
Tbh its Ost that is mostly locked into spam builds.
Almost completely reliant on LMG Grens.
And though everyone is screaming that if Maxim is nerfed, Cons need to be buffed (or some, even more crazily, just want a Cons buff, and leave Maxim alone), AT THE SAME TIME as they want LMG nerfed, its kind of a crap chute, isnt it.
Why is nobody arguing for PGren buff for example?
I mean wth else is Ost supposed to build for infantry?
There is so much deliberate sarcasm (read: beligerent misrepresentation), that its no longer possible to talk about things as they actually are, because of all the sarcastic "hurrdurr im so clever and politically correctly offsneive, xos sarcasm" derailing.
I mean whats the point?
Do people want the game to be balanced SARCASTICALLY, or something?
"Sarcasm is "a sharp, bitter, or cutting expression or remark; a bitter gibe or taunt."
Do people seriously think that throwing sharp, cutting, bitter gibes and taunts around, is a way to have a respectful, constructive and as objective as possible discussion on balance and how to improve the game?
/rant
I wouldn't call it spam. It's just that there isn't much worth building for Ostheer except Grens, Pak 40 and the P4. Everything else is highly situational and often bound to a very high risk.
The overall problem I see with the game is the huge inf dps gap between the vanilla and the WFA factions. This kinda ties Ostheer to lmg-grens and Soviets to "cheese" strats such as sniperspam, maxim spam conspam or whatever else.

Maps in 2on2 rotations which are not really suitable for 2on2 play:
Semoskiy summer
- With 4 players, this map becomes just too clustered with it's narrow chokepoints.
Trois point
- Same as Semoskiy summer, also sturmpio wire makes this map all hell to navigate.
Minsk pocket
- With 4 players, flanking becomes even harder with long flank paths of the map.
Crossing in the woods
- Too small for 2on2 play, rivers make the match always excalate into artyspam.
Agreed completely. AlsoHürtgenwald could probably need some rework. It seems to me that the bottom team is heavily favored on this map. |
To be honest, If relic doesn't do soemthing against spam tactics, blobbing and all the other dull and boring cheese strats, this game will be dead really soon. |
The Problem with this pure conspam strategy is not the way the popcap works.
The problem is how conscripts and some sov commanders are designde. |
I fought these guys twice. I don't see how one can beat this, but maybe some better players could enlighten me?
Anyways, even if they abuse spam"strats" there's no need to call them names. Seriously, if a game makes you rage that hard you should probably take a break every once in a while. |
Look Battle of Kursk losses, germans were on the offensive:
Battle of Kursk:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Kursk
german losses: 305565 and 760 tanks
soviet losses: 863303 and 6064 tanks
6k tanks russian lost Lololo
Also, how exciting..another MURICA FOCK YUAH! campaign...
Well, Kursk was an offensive on paper, sure.
If you factor in the effective combat strenght of these units, the figures are way less impressive all of a sudden.
On topic;
The Western Front has been chewed through back and forth by Hollywood and the Game Industry that's why I'm a bit dissapointed.
The Eastern Front scenario offers soo much more innovative new possibilities...

CoH I also had Little german campaigns like the Tiger-ace or the Falaise-pocket Mission where your Goal is to hold on until your man are saved from the frontlines.
Germans lost the war but have won many Little battles even in 1944-1945.German Army started many succesfull operations to save encircled armys or evacuate civillians.
And you talking like the german army were a weak army in the last years of the war and getting steamrolled by the allies. Of course they lost but they inflicted mostly higher looses to the USA and Soviets then they were getting. Even if they were outnumbered on all fronts.
Western Front:

Operation Bagration
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Bagration
german losses: reaching from 300,000-600,000 Overall Casualties(depending on different sources)
soviet losses: 770,888 Overall Casualties +2,957 tanks +822 aircraft
These should be enough examples for a german campign even if its only about "hold the line until civillians or army Units are evacuated". Or "Push Forward and save encircled army unit XY".
It's pretty common that the defender loses less men than the attacker. That's why there's a thumb rule that says, that the attacker should always outnumber the defender 3:1 before considering an assault. |
