Hey everyone, I know there are some pretty talented CoH players here, so I wanted to ask for some help in making a thread of one liner tips to improve peoples play. There's a lot of complaint about balance right now, but in general I think most players (including myself) lack some of the necessary thought process, tips and mechanics required to pull off some of the comebacks/victories that we see from some of the more experienced streamers. So with that said, if you have a good one liner tip from very basic to more intermediate, please post it below and I'll keep this thread updated with a list. Thanks!
I don't understand the change to the soviet mortar. What it seemed it needed to me was less health, not less damage. Otherwise i haven't noticed a huge change in balance in my few games.
Buildings are still OP and maps are still too big!
I don't think anyone has played enough games to really comment on balance in a thorough manner. You don't see guys like Stephenn and Inverse whinning all the time about balance, and i bet they've played many more games than any of the people in here. the game isn't balanced, but thats standard for the release of an rts, it'll get fixed, until then, work on not losing squads, positioning your units better, refining your build and timings, etc. Oh and hey, everybody can play soviets, so try them out too!!!
I usually prefer 1v1 and I know that 2v2 balance will always be somewhat off, so I'm not whining about balance, but my cousin and I have really been struggling against Ostheer lately. Here's how our games usually roll...
- we go 2-3 conscripts/flamer M3/T1/T3/T34's....
- Ostheer struggles with map control for first 7-10min
- All of a sudden two PIV or a PIV and a Panther show up and we're screwed
- They roll our army and we try to fight them off eventually picking one or two off only to have two more already on the way. Meanwhile our fuel is tanked and we have little AT
- They start using constant strafes and have panthers and tigers all over, gg....
We need work on early game, not losing squads and transitioning better to armor/at, but even so we usually dominate the first ~10min and then tend to get rolled. What are we missing? One thing we have noticed is that there tends to be 2-4 blitz trucks which may be somewhat broken in 2v2's with shared resource income.
Im not sure if its the 3 second timer that is bad or the seeming slight delay when you give a move order to when your units move...I know ive been microing well and saw the satchel timer pop up on the ground only to move away as quickly as i could and still get blown up and lose half the squad or more. I think a 3.5 or 4 second timer would be enough, or maybe a clearer understanding of exactly where it is...
Just wanted to say that Ive tried to incorporate your inputs and ive been improving significantly because of it. I think im finally getting how to play with the Wehr army and my win rate has definitely gone up! Ive still got work to improve to "smooth" timings and mechanics, but im looking better for CoH2!
