Arent these Osttruppen supposed to be Russian / Korsaks?

Doesnt their badge mark them as Hiwis / Hilfswillige?


Ostruppen were all Eastern European/Scandinavian.

Poles, Finns, Norwegian, Danish, Russian, Bulgarian, etc. etc. Most of them were from territories occupied by Russia.

So what's their accent then? Can anyone please identify it because it sounds french to me but that doesn't make sense. I heard Romanian sounds similar to French maybe it's that? Please tell me if you know I'm interested in that kind of s**t :)

Actually there was FRENCH 33rd SS waffen division "Charlemagne" which was fighting even in Berlin to the end...

they should have the merge abitly i feel. that would make them instantly useful. and perhaps some mp40 upgrades.

Only useful if their reinforcement cost is like 20. I don't know what they reinforce for because I've only ever used them twice and they didn't live long enough for me to reinforce them.

Another byproduct of the smaller squad sizes - the Ostruppen ability is much less potent than the conscript thing even without the discrepancy between conscripts and Ostruppen. Not sure if what needs to happen is more Ostruppen / casualty (2 per casualty or 3 per 2 casualties or something) so they become a helpful spamtackle unit, or Ostruppen need some other ability to make up for it (repair, wiring, just something).

Think he has 10 units of Osttruppen at his peak..!

As I said earlier, I think Ostruppen need to be available in some other form, aside from this Doctrine ability.

If I had my way, they would be a t0 purchase alongside Pios in order to diversify Ost infantry and early game openings, but I recognise that would require too extended a balance restructuring.

On that note, I think Pios need some kind of lateral improvement.

T1 - Mg, Motar, Sniper, Scout Car
T2 - Gren, Half-track, Pak,
T3 - Stug, Ostwind, Panzergren
T4 - P4, Panther, panzerwerfer

brummbar goes back to doctrinal

it would probably require the entire game being rebalenced though

I don't think we'll ever see another T0 German unit. The game is balanced too heavily around Germans being forced to build T1 immediately and the Soviets having the early advantage. Not to mention Ostruppen would overshadow Grens quite a bit.

playd a 2v2 today, ostruppens saved the game. Were easy to spam these units. All you have to do is make a few Muni OP then attack move those grens and press relief infatry. Then do it again with those grens+ that 3 relief squad..
