I watched this series, bomber was trolling this guy. Mass reavens hardly happen in high level competition.

i guess you have not watched much of this event nor much Heart of the Swarm.

Ravens are a consistently used late game unit.
AKA the much closer series between Thorzain and Killer.

I watched some Hots, i noticed some metagame changes. For example ZvZ evolved from infestor vs infestor to mutalisk vs mutalisk. That's pretty cool indeed. But what you can do, starcraft is dying they say.

You know i have never seen any of it, so i must take your word. It's propably hard to keep it succesful, because it's only played in one or two countries in the world. It slowly dying to football, which is everywhere, just like starcraft dying to Lol and dota 2.

That doesn't change they beat starcraft badly. Tournament you linked video from, is lagfest. That never happened when i watched COH tournament. Now i want my money back.

and WoW is beating all of those games badly and so Blizzard puts its best resources into WoW...
so if anything SC is "dying to WoW".

however,
Blizzard shows no signs of dropping support for Starcraft.
So this is pointless.

If the NHL94 scene has enough life in it for me to enjoy it then i think
SC has "enough life" in it for me to enjoy it.

Starcraft is Mike Morhaime's favorite game. As long as a multi-billionaire lifetime game designer like him is behind the game, we'll be just fine.

You can play your niche game if you have fun, no one blame you for that.

also, this weekend's viewer counts at MLG don't seem to indicate SC2 is "dying".

you guys are stupid.

Starcraft sucks.

It is dying for the simple fact that all video games eventually die unless sequels are made.

Baseball is growing. A lot.

its attendance peaked at only 348795589374598738 fans and is now slowly declining..
within 5,000 years.. baseball is done!

you say you want proof.. here is ur proof....

http://www.forbes.com/sites/tomvanriper/2011/09/07/mlb-faces-fourth-straight-attendance-decline/

i chose the "baseball is dying" as a joke on the "starcraft is dying" thing.

and if a game always needs sequels how is it AoE2 is getting a graphical improvement only.. and a re-release.

unlike other forms of video games... strategy titles live a long long long time.

u can still find Atari 800 MULE competitive communities.
i mean we're talking 32 kilobytes of nonstop action here!
the guy that made the game is dead.

I like Starcraft as a game...

I hate Starcraft as a Strategy Game, but not because its Starcraft, but because it has all the elements of an old and IMHO obsolete game design.

Starcraft, AoE and the like have little to no force projection* whatsoever. That means numbers are the key to win, and that means strategy only plays a part IF your macro skills are on par with mine. If you have better micro but worse macro, you lose almost always.

What it is doing to promote esports though, is awesome.

EDIT: My bad. Its not Force Projection, its called force multiplier. A CoH and real life example are snipers. A single sniper can kill many, many more times its unit size and composition, if used properly.

I dunno what "force projection" means but yeah, the mega focus on macro in Starcraft II is the biggest reason I don't enjoy playing it as much as I enjoy watching it. I could get my macro up to a pretty decent point, I think, but I don't find that super fun, and I'd rather have games be decided by other stuff. I don't think Starcraft does anything wrong or obsolete but I do think it's very traditional in that way and that's not my favorite kind of game to play.
