Ahead of them German troops were advancing on the village. The men of the 5th Infantry Division were not too pleased about that. There was no armour in the nearby vicinity so all they had to rely on were bazookas and guts.

In the meanwhile the German commander was feeling confident. he had Panzers, he had plenty of sturdy troops. The village would be his.

Along with that we have a propagandareview of the recently released commanders for the OKW and USF.

They'd managed to halt the Soviet advance for now. But for Corps headquarters that was not sufficient. The 101th Panzer Brigade had to push them back to the river or else all of their other efforts would be for naught.

So with that in mind Panzers and infantry got moving again. Ready to try again with the Russian bear.

They had been fighting all day to capture the industrial town from the Germans. As the night fell the 2nd Infantry Division settled down and prepared to get some rest.

But fate was not with them as the 12th SS Panzer Division launched an assault to retake the town.

And a propagandacast lehr covering the M4 calliope is also up

The Panzer Lehr had the momentum. The Guards Armoured division was caught wrongfooted and so was forced on the defensive as Panzers and Panzergrenadiers relentlessly assaulted it., A last stand was made in a small village.

The 210th had been holding the river crossing for a few weeks now. There had been few attempts by the Germans to take it back.

But that was about to change. A new large offensive had been ordered, and for it to work. The River crossing had to be seized. And so the 3rd Panzergrenadier division went to work

We've got Krauts incoming" Lt. Bells shouted to the rest of the platoon as he came running back from company command.

They'd been dug in for days alongside a major road. with little action. But the 1st SS had taken up the challenge and was ready to give the 5th Infantry a good beating. or so they thought anyways.

With one the entire frontline was litup as hundreds of artillery pieces hammered the Germans positions. And as it ended the tanks and infantry advanced.

It was up to the men of the Grossdeutschland division to halt it.

Stalled after supply issues meant they lacked fuel. The 7th tank corps awaited fresh supplies when the germans attacked.

A fanatical assault from the 3rd SS Panzer Division threatened to destroy the 7th Tank corps and throw the entire front apart.

There had been sighting of a Panzer Division operating in the area and so the 3rd Armoured had been sent in to clear it out. Unbeknownst to them. It was part of a bigger trap. So who would be the hunter and who would be the hunted ?

In the icy snows of a remote village on the eastern front. The germans and soviets clash in an attempt to seize it from the other.

Tanks were marshalled. Infantry re-supplied and fuel stocks prepared. An attack was planned and the 2nd Panzer Division was to lead the charge against the British.

If succesful it could result in a larger offensive. Failure, would be catastrophic.

The 5th Infantry had been under attack for 3 days in a row. They'd manage to repulse the Germans so far. But by the look of things the Krauts were bringing up reinforcements and bigger guns.

Thankfully. They had their own on the way.

The 87 Infantrie Division had collapsed and shattered. Only the 87th Pioneer Battalion was in any decent order and so quickly rallied as many men to it as possible while establishing blocking positions.

Hopefully they could buy enough time for a replacement division to arrive.

Bailing out of the burning tank Sergeant Petrovich watched as the rest of the crew failed to exit.

"Idiots" he mumbled as he legged it back to the unit headquarters to requisition a fresh tank and crew.

A salient had appeared in the frontlines. The 15th Panzergrenadier Division was holding on to it with all their might. Even reinforced with Panzers from the 2nd Panzer Division.

But Bradley was quite particular about taking it out so the 1st Armoured Division was assigned to removing it.

The situation was getting intolerable. The Americans had been harrassing them for days with small attacks here and there. But never any big assaults.

Well He'd had enough. If they weren't going to do it. Then he would. Panzers and infantry were mobilized and then they'd show those Americans what for.

And the final state of balance of the year

The 5th Infantry Division had been forced to abandon it's immediate frontline after a series of vicious artillery strikes. and following up on that came the Germans.

But the 5th Infantry had an ace up their sleeve.

They'd managed to stop the Tommies for now. But the were already preparing for another assault. The prepatory bombardment could already be heard and felt as the frontline was being hammered.

And as soon as it ended. They'd attack.

Pressure had been mounting to do something about a soviet salient that had appeared in the recent months and the Grossdeutschland had been picked to do it. Freshly re-supplied they moved in.

Two units were converging on the same town. The 3rd Armoured and the 116th Panzer Division. In different states of equipment. But both intent on seizing the town ahead of them and securing it.
