If non-collector's won't get these commanders, I will be angry.

By the way, I got the Digital CE.

However, I think those will be available. I think they are early unlocks.

Yeah I think so. Just like the "exclusive" weapons for BF3 pre-orders.

So what's the exact status on this now? If I want to pre-order and/or get a special edition, do I have any other choice (content related) than the 2 versions that are on Steam?

You could buy the physical copy of the collectors edition but it contains the same bonuses of the digital one. Just get the Digital Collectors Edition and you'll have everything.
