I think I had this once, I changed my mind and tried to go for a fast T2 but I couldn't cancel my.. whatever I was building. |
Actually the matchmaking servers are placed in the US. Playing from Denmark feels like 100-200ms. So much for fixing command lag...
They were meant to fix games from coming to a complete halt every 10 seconds, not the delay between orders and reactions. |
Not to go off-topic, but have there always been female Irregulars? |
You aren't playing since release, are you?
Shocks used to have to buy ppsh back when they were 360mp.
Then upgrade was made default and cost raised to 480, then it was lowered, because at 480 no one ever got them.
Just because it was changed doesn't mean it can't be changed back, or are you going to argue that they should never put the T-70 or SU-85 back the way it was?
This. Everybody that complains about Molos being thrown at an MG seem to conveniently forget that this is true with all nades. Guards will do it, Shocks will do it, Grens will do it, Pgrens will do it.
This isnt just molo unique.
Except the Molotov does high DoT with a high crit chance. A Grenade has a chance to crit 1-4 people depending on grenade and spacing. But a Molotov can DoT or Crit an MG 42 to death if it crits the gunner and he hasn't already packed up. |

I really wish we could put to rest the suggestion of one man snipers as it doesn't solve the core issue (scout car + snipers) and would devolve infantry combat into sniping and counter-sniping a la vCoh.
Personally I think the core issue is double snipers and up. Double snipers is not hard to achieve yet the payoff is instant field control wherever you have them (unless he begins blobbing, in which case you get field control wherever he isn't..).
CoH1 didn't have this problem because of early access vehicles, counter-sniping (if you so chose), and Volksgrenadier 5 man squads that could also be upgraded with MP 40's and charged at them.
There was also a side-effect of how abilities worked, you needed to complete the animation for it to happen. So there was no instant-panzerfaust on the Jeep that came within range for half a second, like there is now. |

Whenever I encounter Soviet Sniper spam by a novice player, it's easy to counter. My standard start is pretty much Grenadier spam into T2 and go from there, so I generally have a lot of troops I can be moving around with and none I need to really babysit. When I see a Sniper, I immediately drop what I'm doing to tech to T2 and get either a 222 or FHT, then hunt them down with assistance from my Grenadiers.
Whenever a skilled player does Sniper spam, I'm generally pretty fucked, and I don't see any way to counter it that doesn't involve getting a mortar, hiding it, and praying. Maybe Osttruppen spam. Maybe. |
About vehicle combat, the reason it was "watered down" was because the original system was overdone to hell. Yeah it looks cool, watching the video, you see a tank disabled, you see temporary crits, etc. But trust me, that got old fast. Looks cool, but getting a crit on your tank every third hit was infuriating. You're complaining about them adding an "RNG system", while praising about the biggest RNG system CoH has ever seen. It's a shame they were removed completely, some sparing use would have been cool.
Also you or someone mentioned Flamethrower combat seemed more balanced. It wasn't, it was OP as hell. Watch the entire video, see the part where a Flamethrower Engineer almost beats a Panzergrenadier squad.
The only things I agree on are craters (which still exist, but are much shallow-er than CoH1's, and sometimes the decal doesn't fit the deformation (railway gun)), and abandoned vehicles (which are super rare now and a single hit from anything will destroy them). |
Imperial Dane made a video on them today, actually. It's here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2x-2pa2Rvg8
Overview from me; Osttruppen are only to be used in cover, preferably defensively. They do not make good offensive troops because out of cover they are worthless, and they cannot shoot while moving. They're also notable in that they have 48 health, while most units have 80. This makes Osttruppen extra vulnerable to fire and explosives. At Vet 3 though they gain some armour, which improves their survivability slightly. Osttruppen are macro intensive due to needing frequent retreat and reinforcement.
Also very important note about Cover: If an enemy unit gets within the same cover, the bonuses are removed for both sides. This means charging at an Osttruppen squad will make them useless again. As an Osttruppen user there's nothing you can really do about this other than have several squads in the same general area, or have MG 42's ready to support.
Random fact, an Osttruppen squad in Heavy Cover will beat a Penal Squad standing in the open. Not that such a thing will ever happen, but in heavy cover they can be quite capable. |
wait years what were you smoking, OF was released 1 year after coh1...
I meant to use "years" for the entirety of CoH1's life, but then I decided to mention OF (which essentially reset balance) and forgot to change the first sentence. |
what to do now? play and enjoy the game, simple as that.
Because sooner or later, relic will fuck up the balance again, and fix it again, then break it again, and then fix it again, until they completely fuck everything up again until eventually, say 2 years down the line, coh 2 will be BALANCED, and then it will shine in its full glory, just as much or even more than coh 1.
You mean like how CoH 1 did during the first year of balance tweaking, finally getting into a good spot, then releasing Brits+PE and going back into tweaking phase? |
