Then you should have seen that one replay with Cruzzi I think where he lost full health KV-8 to a pak in point blank range.
And in theory, Shock Troops can lose to Grenadiers. Shocktroops UP?
The probability of a Pak beating a KV-8 is less than a Panzer IV beating a T-34/85, or an IS-2 beating a Tiger.
For a KV-8 to lose point blank to a Pak 40 (assuming you aren't jerking us around with vague language again), the least resistance would be for the Pak to penetrate every shot, while the Flamethrower registers nearly every tick as a 'miss', for dozens of seconds in a row. |
Flakpanzer, eh. I'd rather have a KV-8. I can't drive a Flakpanzer into a field gun and expect victory, let alone be able to do it twice in a row, repairing, then doing it again.
The Flakpanzer to the KV-8 is Assault Grenadiers to Shock Troops. Yes it works, but it's nothing overly fantastic unless the other player has no idea how to deal. |
Watch the Cataclaw/HelpinHans game in the recent 2v2 tournament where a KV8 sits in their base with a panther shooting it for seriously maybe 1:30 while it destroys units and buildings.
Can you link it? I'm not seeing it in the replays section. |
Don't forget to decrease its cost and CPs after that, because it seems to be like you want slow T34 with FHT flamers.
Big difference between 960 / 240, and 640 / 115, and the DPS would still be higher than both the FHT's projectors combined.
Good job painting that fake target though, you nailed it dead on. |
Personally I'd say lower the DPS either by lowering the burst time or the damage, increase the aim time (it's almost instant), and decrease the armour or health so it can't just roll up infront of a StuG, wipe all the supporting infantry, and roll away. |
You're comparing T2 stock unit with late game doctrinal heavy AI tank.
How retarded can that be?
That makes as much sense as comparing T-70 to IS-2.
Not really, there actually isn't really a comparison that would work like that, nothing in the game functions like a KV-8. If only vehicles kept their high abandon rate from the beta, more Soviet players would see how much of a pain the KV-8 really is. Assuming they fuck up first and the German actually kills one. |

" Ambush Camouflage has its issues but with grens you can faust M3's and pounce on snipers from cover."
Camo isn't very consistent but it has been improved a bit in the last patch. Now each individual that enter cover goes camo instead of needing the whole unit in cover.
Still ruins it because he sees the "4" and may already know that you went Jaeger Infantry. Put 2 and 2 together you get get that the fucker is hiding 3 others at the nearest cover. |
I went and watched Imperial Dane's first 5 beta casts (this thread made me curious about the differences), and it looks mostly the same to me, visually.
The only (non-balance) difference I noted were the UI (which was slightly broken and an older version), and some flashy effects. Mostly sprites flying off things when hit by tank shells, terrain deforming much more easily, and impact decals being larger and darker.
So yeah, certainly a placebo, there are some visual differences but to convince yourself that it's a completely different engine is wild. |
Because the FHT does 10 damage per tick and the KV-8 does 27. Even if both Flamers are attacking the same unit, it's still less than the KV-8. The FHT is also a walk-in-the-park to get rid of compared to the KV-8. |
Disregarding a unit because its not in many doctrines is rather a flawed logic, unless you want to say something like KV-2 is a non factor, because its only in one doctrine or partisans for that matter, or AGs(by now you should get the point).
Those are completely different, though. Unless you withhold picking Commander until 9CP or get lucky with your choice, you will not be able to counter a KV-8 with a Pak 43. |
