Thread: USF Commander - Recon Company rework18 Mar 2021, 10:58 AM Just a thought about design: Changing the drop to an MG would eliminate all need to back tech into Lieutenant and force a Captain+upgrade tech path. Same goes for ATG drop, just the other way around. Dropping a pack Howie favors a Lieutenant tech, but also allows for double officer tech. It also keeps the need for a later back tech into the respective second officer squad regardless of the first choice. There is nothing wrong with a single commander forcing a build strategy, but from a design choice it limits the decision making. Just a random thought I had. In: COH2 Gameplay

What the CP4 does not have is AT, that's what is being used to "pay" for the aura. Edit: Overall, I don't think the CP4 is that bad of a unit at the moment. It is just sometimes very odd to use. If you have 50 POP invested into infantry (which is low-normal) and invest into a CP4, you have about 38 POP to play with (usually slightly less). I can't really speak of 1v1, but in team games you need to subtract an additional Panzerwerfer which brings you down to 26 POP at most. So you can get either a Panther and more infantry, or 2 P4s. I personally am usually not sure if I really want this unit when the only benefit is that two other units on the field survive a little better. Because you pay with quite a bit of micro and lose a lot of punch compared to a normal P4. I usually tend to play the way I am most familiar with and get a normal P4 instead (or invest 2-6 POP more into a T4 unit). In: COH2 Balance

You can criticize the process and handling as much as you want, but insulting the people behind it is a no go. That being said, you do realize that your standard is unachievable? Your putting higher hurdles on someone getting banned in a video game than people getting sent to jail in real life. In the rarest cases you will have doubtless video and audio footage of someone committing a crime. Would you let a drug trafficker go because there is no video evidence of him handling drugs (not related to Seeking in any sense)? Just a lot of fitting phone connections, emails/notes, potentially DNA on a package but that could have gotten there in another way. Circumstantial evidence is being used every day, every where. The only question is how much evidence do you need to minimize the number of people being hit falsely. And again, you can criticize the handling of this case as much as you want. For what it is, the discussion here has stayed very civil. Even if you disagree with making this public - and there are quite some arguments for keeping it private - "lynching" is the wrong word for it. In: Lobby

I just don't know why they "fixed" the reversing retreat, it actually took skill to perform it. Because this kind of micro is just dumb clicking. There is no decision making or other meaningful input involved, you are just forced to shift click a ton of times. You could also force every third move order to be a quadruple click that must follow a special rhythm, otherwise your unit will be immobilized. Does it take skill to track how many orders you issued and then get the quadruple click and timing right? Absolutely. Is there any meaningful input that enhances a CoH2 game mechanic? Absolutely not. In 2on2 there is some Arti but it can be countered. It is. 2v2 is open enough to allow for flanking on most maps. You need more units to fill up the front line. This is not the case for 3v3+, there you have quite some pop left for backline units. Some teams dedicate their whole strategy to arty spamming and a couple of them are also good at it. You people who cry about opponent going for multiple static artillery pieces should for example try not sitting on your ass. You do realize this game has a balancing mechanic called pop cap which effectively means that investing in artillery means they for example cannot field as many tanks as you? The issue is that this approach scales horribly with larger game modes due to map design. Large modes have a ton of units and flanking is barely possible if at all. If you do not invest into arty yourself, the enemy can organize his defense with cheap mines and weapon teams. Their big weakness is flanking, which - you guessed it - is impossible. So no, you will not be able to get direct fire on rocket arty and howitzers unless your opponent screws up big time. Your best option is to build artillery yourself and try to bleed your opponent more than you bleed yourself. This is the only option to breach the line and then find a gap to kill the artillery. Seeking also agrees that if this was a professional e-sports league he'd be banned already due to the Deadbolt account boosting etc. (then that account later being shown to have map hacked, and Seeking probably played on it after the warning). If anything he has received preferential treatment for this still only being "investigated", there's enough to go off to act decisively. Without even considering whether he himself map hacked or not, which the bulk of evidence still points towards in my opinion. Fully agree that Seeking is getting preferential treatment, other players would have not gotten as much attention and surely not as much discussion. My point is more that IF clips of map hacking will be used to justify a ban decision, those clips should be good and not raise obvious doubts on the issue by themselves. At least in the opening post the clips were the main point of evidence and debate. If you meanwhile got to know of more dubious behavior that already warrants a ML ban, fine by me. I can fully understand that reasoning. But if that is not enough for you and clips are included in the reasoning, then everyone will be better off if these clips are good. But just the sheer volume of clips stirs the public opinion already in a direction. And if we have some hints that a decent chunk of these (they were cited in the initial list after all) were poorly captured, they should not be part of the process until we have better evidence. I am looking forward to your perspective. It is always better to have someone that has not participated in the game looking through it. Will the replays been published for download? In: Lobby
