ROF matters a lot more especially when considering the scatter on the 120mm. I'm not arguing that the 120mm is up or anything, just that against something like an sws truck you are better off with the 82mm since it's going to deal damage more quickly. I am talking about vs structures specifically also. If all shot hit right on target PM-41 will have higher DPS but that not the case. As soon as misses the HM-38 does more damage. You can test this cheat MOD and see how much damage each mortar does. In: COH2 Balance

And you knows it xDDD The problem is, that you need no brain to simply destroy it by things like AT-guns. If you use smoke to threw multible satchels, then you used your brain. Simply shooting on the ground with PaK -> stupid. I have pointed out in another thread that ATG should be less effective vs Static structures. ATG already have a role and they do not need the extra utility of countering structures. That utility can be move to other units to make them more attractive and increase built diversity. As for emplacement I have also suggested multiple times that their should be specific tools able to counter them. In: COH2 Gameplay

Unless there is a bug it shouldn't be dealing more damage. You are confusing small arm fire and explosive weapons. The 2 mortar do the same damage if they both score a hit. PM-41 does 40 damage at distance 2 while the HM-38 does 40 damage at range 3.5. So no they do not do the same AOE damage. HM-38 does allot more. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: State of the Sturmtiger11 Jan 2020, 13:26 PM My suggestion for ST would be: 1) Move to different commander like over-watch or breakthrough, the unit has poor synergy with other commander abilities like commanders/Heat rounds. 2) Redesign unit to be allot more durable. It is supposed to go against enemy defenses yet it medium armor. 3) Redesign gun, instead of wiping machine it should do health damage vs AI targets, critical vs all targets devastated buildings. In other words: lower damage but also lower penalties vs cover/garrison (could even go down to 0) Add critical effects like injured "drive/gunner", "shell shock" vs infatry/support weapon (lowering accuracy and ROF). Add extra damage vs building similar to vs (emplacement). In: COH2 Balance

It has lower DPS then regular one and AoE isn't really a factor against such big, static target. There is only range range advantage to 120mm here and it is going to be less accurate anyway due to higher scatter. I suggest you test in cheat MOd and find out for yourself. In: COH2 Balance

Better chance to deal damage but less chances to deal it as well as lower actual dps against the truck. From my experience 120mm is superior than the standard mortar in taking out trucks... Ignore the obvious thing that the Soviet infantry is poorly designed. We do not have PPSh-41 to fight against the LMG infantry because "I decided so." We have an eternal pull between Conscripts and Penals. We have the eclipse of the Guard because the Penals have are PTRS. What the Soviets really need is a big and radical restructuring of the infantry, because it does not work correctly. I have pointed out the problems of the Soviet infatry numerous times. What conscripts do not need is an LMG. The reason they do not need an LMG is simple. If all mainline infatry get an LMGs none would move them and all the fight would at max range in cover. Infantries where design to have an optimum range of fighting and thus create a dynamic where each player wants to fight in his optimum range. This is called "relative positioning" and making all mainline infantries able to equip with LMG nullifies the whole concept. Or should the SMG and AR drop, because if the BAR is just an automatic rifle, its name is deciphered. Rifles must not drop. If it were a light weapon like an Assault Rifle, then it should not be dropped. Lmg use a specific profile with a negative curve making it inferior at close range and can not be fired on the move by mainline infatry. BAR is not a LMG in this game.
