Thread: Tank balance overhaul16 Jan 2020, 10:18 AM In my opinion thing would be allot easier to balance if the trend of making powerful units early was simply reverted. Allot of the units have been buffed thru the roof simply because the window of opportunity has simply become smaller. Increasing the window of opportunity for units would make far better investments. The commandos get "cool ninja vet" because compared to ALL other infantry units, they get lower straight vet numbers. If you want to buff Stormtroopers by giving them this ability which is specifically unique to Commandos, i don't think it's out of the mind to give them EXACTLY the same vet bonuses. (IB4 someone appears. They are fine, but numerically they are on the lower end) The majority of UKF units had inferior vet bonuses on release, probably due to faction design since started quite powerful. Thread: Nerf IR Halftrack15 Jan 2020, 09:14 AM IR HT could become a unit that has added utility like increase sight and/or flares. As for IR scan it could be redesigned provide to bonuses to unit IR units like the Vamp Ober and even a IR Panther could be introduced. For instance firing on units under the IR beam could reduce cover penalties (Cover penalties for Vamp ST44 could be normalized) or increase accuracy. I could also have other utility like removing the cloak from cloaked units or increasing the target size of cloak units serving like a counter to snipers. In: COH2 Balance

Not sure why some Allied heavies still have such high rear armour values. But I guess it wasn't considered important enough to warrant attention. The game is about unit preservation and that includes ST. I have explain why they should be entities and you are entitled to have a different opinion so I see little reason to continue this. Techless rushing aside, 13 CP heavies were never the same problem because each player would have two or three medium tanks by that point. Heavy tanks need delaying somehow in 1v1s without making them too late in team games. Maybe the answer is build time? That can be achieved by: Increasing the CP and adjusting passive CP gain in bigger MOD so that all doctrinal abilities become available around the same time. Add a research "tech" similar to BP for them (requiring resources or not) with a long research timer acting more as delay than an actual tech restriction. The same "tech" could be used to delay the replacement of the unit once it was lost so that player would need to research it again. In: COH2 Balance

Their role is to disconnect areas in order to use "close the pocket". One could add sight so they can be used as spotters. In: COH2 Gameplay

There is a weapon in the game files called sturm_pioneer_mp44_smg_mp which is not used by anyone in game. We could perhaps modify it to boost it's damage at all ranges specially mid and long so they become more like generalists combat oriented like ir obers. Also giving them 5% more RA bonus from vet would be good. Having 5 member does not mean it has to be better in combat, it mean it has a better chance of surviving retreating from behind enemy lines and lose less DPS per Model dropped. In: COH2 Gameplay
