Weapons now require mechanized unlock before becoming available This change simply reduces the power spike and it is necessary imo if some of fuel is move to mechanized Captain now has access to grenade grenade now share CD (Major looses access to smoke grenade) I see little reason why Captain does not get a frag grenade and having CD with smoke grenades is a standard. Major already has a tonne of utility while the is little reason for a smoke grenade and barrage in the same unit. Remove shared veterancy from LT/Cap. There is very little for unit with good combat stat to have shared veterancy and this change should apply to all officer that have it (accept Major) In: Lobby

The combination of cheap cost, smoke grenade and rapid barrage make major even worth sending him to extremely dangerous mission since he can cause more bleed than his actual cost. In order to make generalist medium tanks more viable in the current meta, their durability is being increased by lowering their target size, making them more difficult to hit. These changes should reduce the chance to get hit by 7-10% on medium to far range - ex: an 88% chance to get hit becomes an 80% chance. The changes will not apply to Tank Destroyers and specialist vehicles based on a medium tank chassis. Units like the Sherman Firefly and Sherman 105mm will remain the same due to their role. Panzer IV, Panzer IV Command Tank, and Panzer IV J Target size from 22 to 20 Again I vary pleased to see that there is an attempt to make medium tank perform better. On the other hand I am not sure if this change will actually be helpful in meaningful way. Part of the problem is not that generally medium tank are not performing adequately but that TDs can damage them (both hit and penetrate) with very high probability even from max range especially when vetted. So imo the problem has more to do with accuracy of TDs and less with target size of vehicles. Here are some numbers of Chance to hit with a natural hit not counting collision hits (range and probability) SU-85 30/90% 60/80% Su-85 vet 2 30/118% 60/104% M36 30/90% 60/70% M36 vet 2 30/118% 60/92% FF 45/143% 60/88% FF vet 3 30/143% 60/144% Note that practical probability of scoring a hit is higher due to collision. So imo one has to check the accuracy of TDs and their accuracy vet bonuses and if there is an issue with "super heavy tanks" they could get a target size increase. In: COH2 Balance

Throw retreat on top of that, and you've got a really good AT unit. It could stand to be 320 MP like the other ATGs now. Making RW 320 without allowing earlier faust will simply make OKW more prone to be bullied by allied light cars and will be major nerf to OKW early game. In addition the cost compared to the M1 seems fine. In: COH2 Balance

The closest we had to the latter was the okw officer's passive aura, which was deemed op and the whole unit got reworked. In my book these 4 abilities pretty much cover Major level high utility while also being better than it in combat. The utility of major is unparalleled while being a stock unit and that is not my point. Major combines high utility low pop and price making an extremely cost efficient unit. Ostheer officer combat effectiveness is diminishes after a few minutes, he can not keep up with other CQB units or mid long enemy infantries once they buy weapons. In the latest WC2019 cap not one single officer was built even when the ostruppen doctrine was chosen. The unit needs to be looked at. I have little more to add. In: COH2 Balance

It also fills a role (non-doc next patch) which UKF is lacking. OH officer is full of powerful supporting tools and the faction also has good non-doc cqc squad, it doesn't really need a buff. The majority of officer like: OKW officer USF LT/Cap UKF Officer Commissar Have quite good fight capability. The only other officer with poor fighting skill is the Major. He combines thou low pop/cost and high utility. The Ostheer officer should follow one of these 2 designs. Either have it pop/cost reduced or have its combat capability brought up to other CQB troops. Thread: Panther Accuracy13 Mar 2020, 07:00 AM Since some one brought up the scatter bonus it get at vet 4 I would like to point out some things. When it comes to AT weapons reducing scatter max can be a bad thing because when it misses the projectile might travel less distance and thus might under shoot especially for target that are reversing. When it comes to angle scatter it is a bit more complicated since it depends on range speed and if the vehicles move one towards one the other or perpendicular. Now unless someone does allot of in game testing with setting a weapons accuracy to 0 so that the majority of hits are collision hits the effect of this bonuses can not really be evaluated. Based on unit stats, nope, you are better of keeping it little behind, using it's concentrated fire aura to buff the blob around it. That actually covers the 'leading breakthrough' part. As for 'pushing away infantry 'units, it only means that it is now viable to be used in cqc against other, non-cqc squads, cuz I remember it was a rather terrible close range unit before the buff. But even then you have to carefully pick your targets, you won't go head-on against long range units with the officer. Especially without escorting squads, cuz then it is guaranteed you lose models and the engagement as well. These are the patch notes and reveals the intention and design of the unit...Weather it is good at or not (with current level of CQB unit the majority of which received buffs) it is another story. And that my point, if the UKF officer is the the correct power level (and I doubt that) the Ostheer officer combat effectiveness needs to be improved. If it is to redesign so be it. In: COH2 Balance
