You keep talking about them having +50% armor when the point in discussion already have the same armor value. If you want to compare the release Shock with with December Shock, the December Shock where cheaper with lower Pop sightly different DPS different vet bonuses but most importantly they become available earlier (and they probably did not have ti upgrade from SVT). In sort they where superior. As I have point out already the December shock had some of highest stat and come earlier than ever. The combination imo made the "strongest" they have ever been. The affect of earlier access can easily be seen with changes to PGs that went from not being used to being used in every game. Compared to the shocks after the patch they the extra armor and mid range DPS instead of sort DPS. The combination of early access and stat was simply brutal. Meanwhile old Shocks got 2.8125 (vet2) and a ridiculous value of 4.05 at vet 3 Updates December 10th, 2013 CP System Adjustments Shocktroops CP reduced from 2 to 1 Patch after Updates for March 6th, 2014 Shock Troopers Armor from 2.25 to 1.5 Cost from 440 to 390 MP Population from 9 to 10 So when on December 10th 2013 Shock troops where starting with 2.25 (1.5x1.5=2.25). The combination of CP1 and 2.25 starting armor made them one of the most powerful infatry. In: COH2 Balance

I have read you comment and I do have to point out that at the time Shock troops had: Armor 2.25 DPS 6.82/6.82/6.82/3.96/2.41/1.44/0.77/0 That made the PPSh having the 4 best DPS up to range 20 superior even to K98 at that range (behind LMG,MP44 and SVT above 13). The December 10th, 2013 Shock troops where probably at their top of their game, they might had lower close DPS (at range 10) but they x150% more armor and they did not have to close in to beat other infatry and they arrived so early that they where facing only grenadiers. They would probably beat Shock troops from most patches in some ranges due to armor advantage and DPS at longer and they certainly beat any stock infatry available to Ostheer. In the end of the day the "power" of a unit in a vacuum does not say much, the impact it has in the environment it fight says allot more and during the time shock where CP 1 they where almost instant win when chosen and thus imo they where at one of their "strongest" time. Regardless if a unit had a stronger version or not, its impact has also to do with its timing. For instance Panzer grenadier have become allot more impactful because they have become available earlier. In addition the weapon profiles where not introduced at the time so Shock did not actually use SMG at the time so they are not comparable with happened after the weapon profiles. As far as I can remember during the patch Shock troops where simply unstoppable so although their stat might be lower than today the stat of what their facing where also lower and their impact was bigger. I do not remember Shock having more impact in the game than at that time. In: COH2 Balance

WE ARE living in the 0.5 CP era. 1 CP of old was current 2 CP. Guards/Shocks were pushed to 1 CP but they are far from been at their strongest IMO. When Shock troops/Guards become CP 1 the game was simply broken. Ostheer could simply not stop Soviet elite infantry. In: COH2 Balance
