I agree that the MG34 just needs a slight tweak, but the Vickers' suppression feels lacking to me altho it's range (especially at Vet 1 when garrisoned) and damage seem good, but for that price, yeah...

Just my opinion based on observations of course.

Who was it that said when cons die they should be replaced with maxims as mainline long time ago again?

I actually never thought of that. I can't count how many times I'm sitting fully behind green cover and I get suppressed anyways because "reasons". And sometimes its not even a man sitting on the side of the bag, it just happens. Although this would make sandbags even more problematic on sections and volks.

Could that be because of AoE suppression? Hitting a squad nearby another one in heavy cover will can cause the one in heavy cover to get suppressed too, though actually targeting the one in heavy cover is more likely to kill models before suppressing them (if at all).

Somehow in my experience,vet0 mg34 suppresses in 3/4 of a burst while the 42 needs full burst.


Well the mg42 surpresses faster and doesn't need a full burst. If that happens in your experience, something magical is going on

20 % more suppression on maxim but longer set up time, less damage for vicker but more suppression and rate of fire increase for mg 34

If you don’t want maxims to be spammed, just double the build time and make them 300mp.

Maxims are a difficult question, because basically everything unique about them is what everyone would describe as their problem in some way.

The maxim sucks man. mg34 might not be able to kill anything, but id trade for it ina second. it actually suppresses

No need to touch:

MG42, 50cal.

Maxim: CoH2 biggest dilemma. What do we do with them, to make them useful, have some identity and not been able to be effective when spammed.

Vickers: whatever it requires so it "snipes" less and deals more reliable suppression, specially when light cover is everywhere.

MG34: cause it deals less damage than others MGs, it has a harder time vetting up. What are the requirements nowadays?

The maxim.
It could use a better vet1 ability and more suppression but I am willing to forget about them if they only fix the damn death loop.
Just remove the death loop, its been 7 years >:(

Can we just make maxims actually suppress but make them set up slower?

The tear down time can stay to help avoid the death loop atrocity (a little), but making the maxim actually do its job without needing vet 1 and a timed ability every time would be great

Compared to the MG42s timed vet 1 ability, which shreds every light vehicle in the game. Because reasons.

Obviously and objectively, Maxim is the worst machine gun in the game, the next is probably MG-34. The rest are either fine (Vickers) or great - MG-42, I am surprised that there are people who think that MG-42 is the best machine gun in the game requires a buff.

Maxim, obviously needs to be made into a machinegun in the first place, considering that right now it's a joke

MG34 is good, maybe it needs to have lower vet requirements to compensate for its lower DPS.

M2HB needs to have its "soft stats" fixed (like slow turn speed etc.) to make it more responsive and consistent, admittedly there are quite a lot of units like that so it's probably a case of a much "wider" problem.
Maybe something that the next patch could be focused on.

Vickers could suppres slithly better, or just be made cheaper

MG42 is a troll vote.

I think either the Vickers or Maxim could use a new ability to separate them from the rest of the HMGs.

They are the two oldest designs in the game, both being pre-WWI designs, so I think their use should reflect that old philosophy.

An early MG tactic was to use them as light artillery, firing in an arc at long ranges to barrage and harass enemy units. This could be done as an ability for either unit that allows them at Vet 1 to fire a “suppressing barrage” that does light AoE damage and suppression in the target area.

Another ability idea could be like the strafing fire ability that the Centaur has. The MG fires a long burst sweeping from side to side damaging and suppressing everything in a cone in front of the gun.
