Cover volumes are intentionally larger to resolve this issue. If you were to open the debug cover view, you would see that its fairly easy to position your infantry in cover given the size of the cover volume. It is exactly the same size as it was in COH1 for reference.
But cover is also directional. You can be in green cover, but if you're being shot from the side, you're fucked either way. So if a soldier is ordered into cover and goes to the sides instead, it's very bad. |
They should change the name of Penals to "Infantry Troops" since they're now apparently the new frontline infantry, and it's weird having penal troops being the mainstay of the Red Army..
In my dreams, though.... |
Probably Engineers if they're M1 Carbines. Rangers don't really have any reason to be using Carbines, those were mostly handed out to Airborne troops and anyone who's not General Infantry but still needs self-defense. |
....german camouflage?
are you being sarcastic...?
Yeah, maybe. But on the other hand, it'd be kinda bull if you had to buy X camouflage for Ostheer and then buy it again for OKW. If it's even the same as Ostheer's, that is. That's more along the lines of what I meant. |
I'm actually wondering about German camouflage. Obviously Ostheer has German camouflage, so what will OKW get? |
True, but vCoH got away with it by using the Panzer IV F1 series... The only mirrored unit was the Panther... which wasn't so bad...
That's true as well but the Panzer Elite F1 was way better than the one in CoH2
I do think if they both have Panzer IV (which I believe they should), I think they should go for the body of the CoH1 model with the turret of the CoH2 one. A little variety goes a long way, even if it's the same unit! |
They did, I don't know if all the patterns are legit, and obviously not as much as in CoH2 where every vehicle has camouflage, but they did.
The Americans had camouflage too, but like the Soviets, it was much less common. |
How about simply changing skins for Allies when they end up with US/Russian armies mixed ? Just like America's Army, where you always see yourself and your teammates as "the good guys", Russian players could see their US allies with Russian skin, and vice-versa for the US players. You know, something like T34 <=> Sherman, US Riflemen <=> Conscripts, etc..., only skin and speech accent could be affected.
I actually think that would be really cool, but it wouldn't work for things like Maxims. |
If they stuck to the Eastern Front, we'd just get another German faction and another Soviet faction. The Eastern front was extremely deadly, but when it came to worthwhile armies, it was just those two.. |
the HE round could rip a turret of completely from a tiger.
Yeah but for balance reasons we obviously can't have it one-shot Tigers, same reason Elefants don't one-shot even a T-70. I think criticals (especially destroyed gun, damaged turret ring, immobilised, and abandonment for death) would be a great way to show that you're breaking it apart from the outside with HE shells. |
