Daym, titanium barbed wire! |
I agree getting T2 as OKW is the most stable and the ISG is a very good unit to have. T3 is a little less useful other than to chase down vehicles, but like you say the USA quickly have the relevant counters to a puma, so it has to play safe.
If OKW goes hard T2 (probably into T4), its a good idea to get some early tanks and harrass the crap out of all his flanks.. its difficult to protect anything away from the trucks without a puma. He might try save for a panther, but it comes late and isnt much help vs all your inf, ussually he will get a Jagd, which cant really control the flanks easily. |
You can't just compare it to other grenades and say it should be this much. It's a doctrinal ability, some are passive.. Some are amazing.. But in this case the trade off is no call in infantry. So this grenade is to make up for no MGs, Falls or Fusilliers. |
Is that why a strum pio couldn't cut through its own wire? (He had the upgrade package). I've not tried cutting enemy wire. |
It's a good cheap ability, it needs some draw backs to not be spamable. Your supposed to stall capping away from the enemy to let it recharge.
It's also supposed to have synergy with the radio silence ability so you can sneak up on a garrison or capping squad without your opponent noticing on the mini map. |
Flanking maxims is not that viable as OKW, but the field gun is a beast. If you know he's T2 you want one ASAP, and if you then find he is maxim spamming, complement with either an IR halftrack and/or another field gun, this WILL slowly push him back and claw ground back. |
Well like Romeo said, farbrorjoakim did a good job of unit preservation even when I was dominating (but starting to lose units in the process), and had a few more of my Stuka strikes landed on the blob, I probably would have won, so correct counter... badly executed.
But yes, it would be nice if the suppression units, particularly the flak truck, could actually halt a blob in its tracks, or require more than 2 bazoka hits, one single inf unit taking it out in a few seconds, while its set up is very confusing. |
Thanks a lot for the in depth analysis Romeo, really appreciate it. I absolutely agree with everything you said and will be working on all those things.
I'm probably a little used to Soviet style play hence spreading too thinly.
I agree the Sturm tiger is easier to use and has netted me better results.
I've never had good success with the flak HT, i think it is too micro heavy for me at least. So easy to lose to even inf. Normally I just go T2-T4, but I've been told you need a puma vs USA. Normally I get a Jagd, rakketen an shrek, which is very good defence around flak HQ.. But flanks get harassed too much by vehicles.
Would it be ok to go T3 just for a puma, then T4 and then back teck for medics?
I have barley used T3 or Luftwafe, I normally use the other tiers and doctrines.
I think the biggest thing for me to learn is to concentrate my forces (and micro), so as to avoid squad losses. I seem to have a detrimental obsession with capping. |
I appreciate the feed back. Unit preservation can be quite hard as OKW, it's something I need to try harder with. But blobs of inf can wipe squads really fast especially if busy else where.
Do people regularly go all tiers vs USA to have a puma, medics and Obers? Normally I go T2-4 which does quite well unless the enemy harasses a lot with medium vehicles.
Yes I was a little frustrated in the game as the title states.. I was struggling for ways to counter the blob.
Yes I got a Stuka, because of the blob. Yes I lost a few (too many units), but I did take out some of his.
I didn't say I outplayed him, clearly he outplayed me after the early game, I just asked for tips and critique. |
Having the Flak HQ with a field gun near by is very very good... but the down side is thats T2+4 and no Pumas... |
