Their early game use is to have a AT snare right away without requiring tech, and later on in the game they either become formiddable AT squads or an above average infantry squad with good firepower, grenades, snares and Flares. exactly. make e too good and they dont become an alternative to volks, they become a full on replacement and we dont want that, especially since they can get 2 shreks.... I also think guards PTRS rifles should get 300 penetration in order to make them more useful. Likewise guards need a lower received accuracy in order to avoid being zoned out by infantry or vehicle MGs so easily so they can perform this ability more often. Maybe 0.8 target size? Alternatively one could try damage reduction. Maybe buff the DP lmgs too so they get the JLI insta-kill crit, and give them 8 damage per shot. A price reduction might also help. I think then maybe this unit will finally be balanced. i know you are trolling, but button SHOULD be cheaper since panzer tac instantly counters it despite button also requiring a costly upgrade first before anyone goes off, id like to point out that the UC self repair was increased in price because a snare would cost more than the ability meaning you could trade damage for a net positive exchange of munitions. either ptac should go up or button should go down, im thinking the former since the latter could throw off the soviet muni economy and make lights easier to kill. That would cement them as attrition units without making them too much while also allowing a squad that just merged add a bit more fighting power of a player wants to risk it. Might be enough of a buff to allow toning down the T70 a bit even. In: COH2 Balance

And even if remove the PTRS from Penals, the whining that the Guard + Penals is an OP will return again. Soviet infantry is just a mess. Guards hit harder is why. Make Maxim "balanced" and for example a 300mp machine gun. I will never build it: because for a lower price other fractions will have a machine gun with similar characteristics or even better, and some also have a machine gun in T0. Build T2 + hypotical 300mp? No thanks, I'm going to T1. 300mp for ~ and mg34 with a 6 man crew however might be worth while. Of course the cost of t2 is a big factor. I personally feel like cons should be a bit cheaper to make up but with the new 7 man cons later it might not be a great idea. Maybe gating a cost decrease with t2? There are ways to balance the maxim even with working stats. Price and build time are factors, cap speed could also factor in. Set up time, ramping Supression, incremental stats, abilities... This is a rather ridiculous proposal, Make the unit more expensive and reduce the characteristics. No, Maxim should cost as much as machine guns of other factions and have similar performance for the same price. I think I'd rather make it function and balance its price and build time based on that performance (taking into account the large crew) than try and make it fit into the price point and siny not function properly as a result In: COH2 Balance
