I don't speak for Katukov but I'd imagine he meant that if the pak howi or leig were able to retreat, they have the possibility of only retreating back to where the FRP is. The 120mm, meanwhile, always has to go the full distance back to base. In: COH2 Balance

That gives a lot more control over their balance via build time and tieing up production and resources while it's built. It also eliminates the "panic" call in where you instantly have a unit if you need it I'm pretty sure that this used to be the case. Except the units got replaced. Supposedly penals were literally a "placeholder" for elite troops, (Meaning you'd have to tech T1 in order to get Shocks or Guards, and once you picked a doctrine you couldn't make the stock version any more.) that's the reason they weren't given a purpose for a long time if I understand correctly. Both are slugs but the JPIV is a slug on heroin in reaction ability. Mobility matters quite a lot here, not saying ROF isn't important, but can the JPIV have at least one significant stat that's superior to allied TDs? JPIV is a great unit but it's not a hard counter to allied TDs, it's up to the superior player in these types of engagements. It might have a leg up in certain situations (lanes) but it also has a leg down in others. It's mediocre against Comets, Churchills, IS2, ISU, Pershing. Comets get spammed as much as Panthers. Besides the point. I don't have a pony in this race. Just pointing out Vipper's gaslighting once again because it irks me. In: COH2 Balance

Even after formation nerf. 120mm is supposed to be a superior indirect fire piece you pay a premium for. Again I definitely think reinforce should cost more but when you get the 120 the point is to totally decimate static teamweapons play utterly. And really static gameplay in general. The thing is that--I've found--the only way to really do damage to blobs with the 120 is either luck or having a pair of MGs to suppress. Otherwise you're very vulnerable to infantry actually getting in your face. So the 120mm is very effective against teamweapons, but meh against blobs unless you get some MGs there to slow them down. And if that happens, you're very vulnerable to panzerwerfers. So I think it's a good give and take. I am starting to understand why the OP wants to make it less survivable. It's just that games where I go for the 120mm is not an auto win. Against G43 pfusies the 120mm will get outflanked and decimated if you're not careful. And a stuka softening up any support weapons prior to a push is devastating as well. And again again, I'm 4 digit teamgames player so take my opinion with a grain of salt. In: COH2 Balance
