You know, I do not understand why people dislike using Rifles so much. I've been using them since the beta and times where they were considered 'DOA' or 'USF on life support.' I almost never had problems unless I made mistakes or got surprised by new tactics. BARs are one of the best all-round upgrades in the game and affect all riflemen. 150MP, 40 FU spread across 2 or 3 squads. What's the muni conversion shall we say? 60 muni per squad of 3 squads? Another 60 muni per squad for a 2nd BAR. Hardly egregious costs, unless you've been throwing nades around all game.
You have delayed LVs/armour yes, but there isn't an Axis inf who can stand up to them 1v1 until maybe pzgrens or of course Guastatori. Usually this translates to more map control and resources. DAKgrens eventually outscale with CA and VSL and their own 100 muni LMG upgrade, but that's some extreme circumstances there.
And they reinforce @26MP per model!
Nevermind what the ISC stuff can do.
I used to think riflemen sucked until someone showed me how to actually play the game (Greyhound rush -> Grenades -> BARs). You really have to play like a caveman in the early game to get the most out of your riflemen, which was my mistake (I tried using support weapons in the early game. Whoops). I wish there was some kind of sidegrade that riflemen could buy without teching BARs like a shotgun or something lol. |
Yeah but weren't you one of those crazy maniacs that didn't touch pathfinders and went riflemen instead?
Yes.... |
normal life
lol and perhaps even lmao. College life for sure. |
This speaks for itself
Hey I resent that. That was probably my highest rank as 4v4 USF ( |
There are certainly a lot of... interesting.. threads here. |
for years i read so many nonsense posted here. there are 362 pages in the balance forum. people who understood absolutely nothing, but were allowed to spout out their rubbish there
i remember the people who said brits are "well designed".
the guys losing a game and blaming the game for it all the time. i'm pretty sure balance designers got influenced by those [***]
i remember some chinese guy complaining about the Wehr flamer haftrack which nobody cared about for ages and it got nerfed afterwards
To be fair to this person you mentioned, I think that a lack of complaints about a unit doesn't necessarily mean it has no issues. If they brought up a real issue or exploit with the halftrack, then what's the big deal? |
Reposting from my steam discussions post:
The more I've been playing the game, the more I've come to really appreciate how well put together the battalions system is. At least, in theory.
For example, the devs wanted the infantry companies to stand out, but also, at the same time, they wanted every regiment to have squads to capture territory with.
So what did they do? They make it so that all tank and artillery regiments (except two specific regiments which are supposed to be hybrids) have a massive penalty to basic infantry, BUT they still have access to the new "seperate infantry squads" which are way more Battle Rating AND Command Point effective at the cost of not being able to divide up like basic infantry.
In this way, the devs made it so that non-infantry company players have to make a decision: do I take away Battle Rating from my specialized units so that I can put basic infantry in my deck, or do I fully specialize and just take seperate squads to handle capping.
Then we have the specialized regiments like heavy tank regiments, howitzer regiments, etc. There's a really interesting dynamic there, where you get access to higher tier units from the regiment's specialty, but you give up on the generalist discounts of the basic regiment.
I can honestly say that it's incredibly fun to break down a regiment and build it up from scratch. I have a blast figuring out ways to accentuate my strengths while covering for weaknesses.
And honestly, the regiments really do each have their own "feel". I really do love how loadouts can look so different from regiment to regiment, but still fit the "theme" of the regiment.
Honestly, I've given the devs a lot of sh*t about the game, but the battalion system absolutely sells the game to me, hands down. They really did a good job with it. |
Next time why don't you just post the thread URL and your comment on it here, then we can all have a conversation without the thread getting locked. Sounds good? |
The serial necromancer is back at it again. Which thread's corpse will they reanimate next? The 120mm mortars instakilling squads thread? Pio spam OP thread? Popcorn MG42 thread? Tune in during June to find out! |
