Maxim aoe suppression is too much

On some maps where you can´t flank, maxim is king.

You can´t even frontal assualt it cause it will suppress 3 volks even though they arent even near each other.

And thanks to our dear balance team, maxis just doenst die due to the new formation buff.

And if you wipe it, conscripts near it will just clean the rest of your volks, cause 7 man and recrew it again full, and taliho, the nightmare continute.

Dude if you are struggling against Maxims, I don't even want to ask how you are doing against the actual powerful Allied units.

If it's late enough for 7-man Conscripts, you should already have a Panzer IV or Stuka zu ßus or be well on your way to a Panther. Germans control the late-game with their armor deployments, Allies are entirely reactionary with TD Deployments, you have the initiative; Use it.

If you're dealing with an unflankable early Maxim, either go somewhere else or grab yourself a Mortar/LeIG.

The ability on the maxim is actually super amazing and will suppress everything everywhere. I think most people forget it even exists... but it's awesome. You can 1v1 every hmg in the game with it and win, even against incendiary rounds on mg-42s.

The reload ability? I thought it just speeds up reload. It affects suppression?

Doesnt he mean sustained fire? It significantly increases burst duration, doesn't it? That increases suppression through an overall greater rate of fire.

it ups suppression, and the Maxim will keep firing for the entire duration of the ability with no pauses if Im not mistaken

Yeah I just used this ingame and the AoE suppression from sustained fire is pretty nuts.

now that sustained fire doesnt require vet well actually see how good it is. its nice to see a vet 0 maxim being able to stop massed infantry like the other mgs

I still think the idea someone suggested previously to make Sustained Fire a toggled ability was quite interesting, too.

Slower pack-up time and/or a smaller arc would be what I'd suggest. Give the maxim a wider arc in the default mode, and allow it to then deploy into the "suppressive" mode from there, with a smaller arc and significantly higher suppression. Numbers would have to be tweaked, but I think it's a novel concept that helps the Maxim fit into the "double duty" gimmick the other tier 2 soviet team weapons subscribe to.

The fact the Maxim uniquely has two distinct deployment animations (Currently used for whether it's inside or outside of cover) lends itself to this sort of thing, it's readable at a glance.

If the current iteration of the suppressive fire ability is considered good enough though, there's probably not that much call to bother making further changes to the unit.
