Aireborn Guard are useless

With DP28. It should give slow tank ability, but it doesn't and I don't understand why Aireborns can get DP28 for 100 ammo and no new ability.

PPSH cost 0 ammo and unblocks 3 abilities (smoke, 2 combat tactics).
DP28 cost 100 ammo, and unblock NOTHING

Is there an explication ?

The explication is that 3 DP28s are excellent in pure combat stats so they don’t get extra utility on top of that.

If you want ppsh squad, why have you picked airborne in the first place?

DPs are excellent when they need to hold area.

If you want Guard DP28 squad I think it's better to take ISU152 with guards ;)

Except, regular guards can't self heal, can't shoot their heavy weapons on the move and most importantly, that doctrine can't equip cons with strong early game weapon and regular guards are weaker vs infantry.

So your theory is that Airborne Guards are useless because they do not have an ability when upgrade with 3 DPs?

Aireborn Guards with DP29 seem a bit useless.

Also in the description of DP28 they speak about tank slow ability, but in fact there isn't.

DP guards provide tons of firepower. They are not LMG paras, but they still do tons of damage. AFAIK their dps is slightly better to mg34 Obers. In 2v2 I generally prefer lmg guards more to PPsH one, if I have spare munies and MP ofc.

Yep AB guards bring something the soviet lack- a long range AI powerhouse. It's not flashy but has neat vet and works well with the commander. No change needed i feel.

and cost was just 100MU and can be upgrade everywhere.

Honestly the 3x DP-28's for 100 munitions is kind of a bargain. The closest point of comparison is 2 Vickers K's which cost much more and do much less. Or maybe Obersoldaten, who were literally designed to be overpowered and have been nerfed several times since. So being almost as good as them is a strong feat. I could also point out that Obersoldaten's current DPS closely mimicks Vet 3 Grenadiers, so again, being able to get close to Vet 3 Grenadier DPS with a fresh squad is pretty good.

Not really, ab guards with ppsh are fragile only good at close and will have hard time even going against pg's. 3 dp's are better as they can sit back in cover and deal ungodly about of damage to the enemy.

wait what???? Is that true. I though ab guards dp28's were the same as regular guards(but they have 3). no shooting on the move. was this a change in the latest patches???

As far as I know they've always been like this.

Tbh I'm not sure if you can ask for more for a soviet squad. 6 man squad able to self heal, fire their LMGs while moving and can call in their own (albeit mediocre) air strike plus a grenade.

Not only that, their on the move dps ratio with their lmgs is far better than paratroopers or commandos.

This. Pretty much PPsH guards are extremely situational, since they have pretty mediocre RA for CQC squad. Even vet3 squad can't get near survivability of vet 0 shocks (which is equals to 0.66 against small arms). But I don't complain, since it is an option along LMG guards.
