Elite PIAT

Handheld AT is pretty much nonexistent for the Brits, and there is little reason to get them on Commandos. What if we gave Commandos an "elite" version of the weapon? This is much like how Commandos already pick up elite Brens from the weapon rack, and how Paratroopers and Rangers get elite Bazookas from the weapon rack.

Bazooka vs Elite Bazooka:
  • 80DMG vs 100DMG
  • 110/120/130 pen vs 140/150/160 pen
  • Support Paratroopers (Recon Support Doctrine) gets camo and ambush (+25% DMG and pen, 125DMG 175/187.5/200 pen)

PIAT vs (proposed) Elite PIAT
  • 100/33DMG vs 120/40DMG
  • 110/120/130 pen vs 140/150/160 pen

Commandos already get camo and ambush, albeit it is oriented towards bonus acuracy.

Thoughts?

Maybe better, if this would be an upgrade for Tank-hunters tommies? So, after weapon racks upgrade they can upgrade their boys to PIATs and get ambush camo.
Won't really harm their anti-ifantry play, but still be able to ambush enemy veichle, snare it and bombard it to death. Not sure, if snare should stay, if really.

Super PIATs on commandos will probably buthcher their AI-role, and, with their camo they can pretty much sneak to your pzfer/stuka and nuke it, like old raketen.

That is true, Commandos can cloak in camo, which is dangerous. It might be worth it though, considering just how unusable PIATs at the moment. Alternatively, the squad could be reworked to disable moving camo and switch the bonuses.

New unit built able in glider: tank hunter commando sections with 5 man, 2 elite PIAT and Enfield rifle ? If they have camo then can be considered being 4 man.

Imo a Seperate unit would be better. It can be balanced easier, timed better and have proper vet bonuses.

i like idea of specialised commando unit. seeing as brits have virtually no specialised infatry, this could be decent addition.

Yes Given commandos get 45 muni slightly less elite Ober LMG's. Why not. Let's make sure UKF is op as f. WHY NOT GIVE FIREFLY 480 DMG PER HIT TOOO....

Maybe snakeeye can confirm but im pretty sure there's already AT commandos in the game files and was present in beta with the Churchill call-in

They didn't have elite PIAT but instead got a extra damage when ambushing a vehicle. They were removed because people complained a crocodile coming with a free AT squad was op

There was also a observation section too

It was REs, not commandos.
AT REs came with one churchill and salvage REs with other originally.

That is incorrect. AVRE come with demolition teams. Recovery Ro.E. was a different ability.

I am not sure about Croc but it did probably come with flamer units (flamer IS?) (or AT commandos) if I remember correctly.

The question is whether the British need an elite AT squad

You're arguing semantics.

The squads called in were REs with ability to demo or satchel and PIATs, can't remember anymore while salvage one was just salvage REs.

Actually you are trying to correct other will making a series of mistakes yourself and derailing a thread insisting on them instead of acknowledging your own mistake. As usual you are trying to blame me of arguing semantics when when it is you favorite past time and you started this.

"Demolition specialist "AVRE"" ability, came with Royal engineers demolition teams. The unit had no Piat but had access to light gammon bombs and demolition charges.

"Vanguard operation "Crocodile"" ability, came with flamethrower ISs. The unit come equipped with flamers.

Now pls move on.

Maybe just make out-of-cover penalties not apply to the PIAT already. It makes the tommy squad ironically the worst squad in the entire game to put a PIAT on because of the insane reload penalty. It's like 40% IIRC.

Now you can put PIATs on units other than the REs and not be basically wasting ammo.

Wild idea: they get the old "attack ground" PIAT back.

I have suggested a PIAT upgrade for AT sections for the last 2 patches, and it keeps getting ignored because the idea isn’t stupid enough to start a forum war and get attention.

I wish you luck tho because it’s a good idea
