Who could have seen volks spam were coming, when all relic did is systematically kill every other viable tactics for them?!
They buffed volks
They didnt fixed obersoldaten
They didnt fixed Rkw43
They increased tank prices
They removed suppression
So go ahead, "nerf-nerf-nerf" schrecks too... obviously thats the only problem now...
Yeah, I mean, I get why people are complaining but at the same time what exactly would you have OKW do? I like the new Kubel but it has kind of a niche function and probably won't survive past 4 minutes or the first Allied light vehicle. No stock MG (and puddingy doctrinal MG that doesn't even come at 0CP) puts OKW at a distinct disadvantage vs early Allied blobs. The raketen isn't quite as bad as it was at first, but it's still far and away the worst AT gun and is easily outmaneuvered by anything faster than an IS2.
The reality is that OKW just doesn't have a whole lot of opening moves, and that their lack of non-handheld AT (and lack of handheld AT other than schrecked up volks) forces their hand. I think I like the idea of a dedicated tank buster squad with an StG or other AI package for volks. |
Honestly it's so useless if they don't make it heal full health they should just take it out of the game and replace it with something worthwhile. Which I would probably prefer anyway. |
1) I agree completely with easierwithaturret that the underlying problem is Relic's squad-wipey design. I don't play vCOH any more but it's probably the design change I like the least in COH2, even offmap arty wasn't as instantly lethal as a single OKW Stuka rocket.
2) To WTFisthis' point, I am admittedly a mediocre player, but I struggle intensely against the Stuart as Ostheer. Not entirely sure what to do about it since my PaK/MG position usually ends up getting flanked by riflespam if it's in a position to actually hit the Stuart (and if it's far enough back to be safe it's useless).
3) Perhaps one possible fix is nerfing riflemen's accuracy on the move? Their DPS is fine for cost and I wouldn't mind them being a little less squishy, but often I've had as many gren or volks squads as opposing rifles, my guys sitting in cover, while the rifles do tons of damage as they advance. Then I have to retreat. I get that they're supposed to be mobile flanking glass cannon-ish infantry, but I think their current profile cuts against some of the main design ideas of the game (namely that units sitting behind cover are supposed to be able to fend off units coming at them across open ground). |
There are way too many problems with the Pacific:
1) Not really a "maneuver warfare" operation (at least on land)
2) No urban areas + thick foliage = terrible, monotonous maps
3) No Japanese armor, impossible to balance
4) (most importantly) At least it's kind of vaguely conceivable to see USSR and USA on the field together. But you would never ever have any other factions besides USA and Japan, thus no separate armies for DLC etc. |
I only see two possibilities for a CoH3, assuming they change anything: Africa or 1941 (or both I guess). |
I've only played a handful of games vs brits but I largely agree with Latch. One thing I will say though is that while some form of Brace may be needed, in its current form the ability is just ridiculous. Perhaps the MP (and fuel where relevant) cost of emplacements could be reduced, in exchange for a weaker Brace; but to me the ability is basically game-breaking, especially on the Bofors. |

I don't think it's necessary to nerf USF. IMO it would be much better to buff axis. IMO give OKW KT instead of sturm pio's as starting unit, and maybe an Elephant for Ost starting unit.
I like this idea, because it's the only fair way to handle Jacksons. Jacksons need a damage and penetration nerf, otherwise I agree KT/Elefant should be the starting unit. |
I second LeYawn, "Ketetof" is comedy gold. |
I agree with a lot of the criticism, and I think rolling out the changes gradually (assuming the changes ever get rolled out) is a bad idea. I also think CieZ is right that there are a lot of good steps in this patch. I feel, and I think this is true of other people as well, that the problem is how much they could have changed and didn't (especially vis a vis call-in meta/Ost teching costs), rather than with the changes they did make.
That said, I want to correct one misunderstanding, which is that as far as I understand it the limit on heavy vehicles is for simultaneous units on the field. Meaning you'll still be able to have a second IS-2 if your first one gets destroyed, you just won't be able to have two on the field simultaneously.
As for KTs, I guess I never play 4v4 so I can't really say for sure, but it strikes me that if your army composition includes more than one KT you're doing something drastically wrong, which the allies should be able to exploit. I mean that would be more than half of your total popcap in two large, slow targets. |
I don't think people are too upset about the RNG in cons vs grens, or Sherman vs P4... Engagements like that are what make coh great.
Now a Jackson bouncing and missing 4 rear shots on a KT during an hour long game doesn't make coh great.
So much this |
