7man cons nowhere near OP. Imagine saying Cons OP in a meta of Ost 90% win rate with terminator 5man Grens and broken Osttruppen.
No Faction has ever had a 90% win rate in 1v1 automatch.
I'm not saying ostruppen or 5 mans grens aren't broken either Ost doesn't have much other choice. Soviet
7 man upgrades just turn the late game into an absolute grind..

Ofc its a bit to much.
But thats community balancing for ya.

Makes me laugh how people talk about the broken shit of the past, as if to imply the current state of the game is anything but a steaming pile of cancerous shit.
Psst. The balance team just replaced the broken shit from relic with slightly less broken shit of their own, but made it ok by spreading it among all the factions and then to top it off made every faction the same so no one could complain...
Well done team.

Given the state of the game ( due to community patches ) you could add this back in and it wouldn't even make top 10 on cancer list...

because this game has too steep of a learning curve. Things are not how we know as they are in reality so people get frustrated.
I don't think the learning curve is what cause frustration. I have played and watched the game for years, I know how things work. Its also not a balance issue. I can be winning easily and the game will still enrage me.
The frustration comes from all the bullshit mechanics that still litter the game. Granted the balance team have removed or toned down much of the broken shit, but there is still an enormous amount of extremely frustrating mechanics left in the game, mainly because they tried to make every mechanic/ability/unit viable. The result is a game that is full of numerous little annoyances that aren't OP but just continuously detract from the game experience overall.Add in lag, faust bugs, no grenade warnings, stupid pathing bugs, shit maps, uneven matchmaking and every game is just a total headfuck. Unfortunately, and it is to the detriment of the fanbase, these elements ( Cancers ) are not going to be removed.

No one on in this community mod team, or Relic (whatever remains of Relic) has the big picture vision to understand asymmetric balance and strategic, vs, by-the-numbers, unit-vs-unit balance.
100 % agree.
I have played coh2 from its release to now, and I played coh1 for 3 - 4 years before that. From my perspective as a 1v1 player (who exclusively plays OSt & Usf) I would say the game is now beyond saving due to community patching philosophy. Every faction now is almost identical and plays the same way unless you include a few meme strats like ostruppen etc. The other problem is the game has become dull as fuck, because every faction just builds a defensive wall of mgs and double at guns and the game just degenerates into each side probing until the other player gets caught out of position or rng determines a wipe. Then indirect fire just shits all over everything and often makes unit positioning a pointless exercise because often the first strike wipes half the squad and half its health meaning auto retreat.
The problem stems from trying to make every unit and every game mode viable which like it or not pushes the game towards mirror factions. Once everyone starts build double mgs and defensive lines then the game just becomes a slugfest of boredom.
The other issue is the balance team gave into every fanboy that cried about not having the same "tools" as other factions, eg suppression, cq units etc etc. Once upon a time if you wanted to play a particular style you would pick the faction that favored that style. Now everything is just the mirror image with each side having it own flavor of cancer.
IMO I find the problem so bad that I don't even find watching the game interesting unless its a tournament semi final and even then I am more entertained by AE casting than actual gameplay.
This is not a balance issue for me, rather just disappointment with the direction the game has taken and really just how extremely frustrating the game is to play now.

People who say that the game is worse after the patches are completely disrespectful to the amount of time these guys put into improving the game.
This is the problem. Too may people seem to think that contribution equals quality and therefore criticism is unwarranted. I don't think anyone knows who is really making the final decision on any patch and what limitations are placed on those working on the patch. However imo the direction patches have taken over the last few years have done very little to improve the game overall from an enjoyment perspective. Is it more balance across all modes, probably, but frustration when playing any faction is through the roof because every faction is jamb packed with cancer...
And before the usual retards rush in with rank references and l2p quips, let me just say I know how to play, I just dislike how the game has evolved. Hell I won't even watch a stream anymore unless its someone like vonivan or someone that is entertaining because the game has just become cheesey boring crap.

They made it free because community patching has made the game cancerous and beyond frustrating to play. All that is left is the true believers that would play regardless how retarded the game becomes. In a week the numbers will be back to normal.

Combined arms is not the issue and any attempt to make that argument is simplistic. The issue is that the ostwind and pgrenz were overbuffed and when used together are cheesy and braindead stupid. Numerous arguments have been made opposing unit power creep and the balance team dismiss those arguments on the basis they know better. Nothing is more frustrating than increased probability of squad wipesand that is exactly what this patch has done.
