Thread: Glider call in12 May 2020, 08:02 AM If you drop Falls or Paras in an area your units have sight on the drop circle is so small that it should be nearly impossible to lose an entire squad to objects. There are some odd things like certain objects causing disproportionate amounts of damage to the glider (like the vineyards) or Paratroopers occasionally landing in a bad pattern at the very edge of the drop circle, but those are rarities and nothing can really be done about them. Generally speaking though in 95-99% of times airborne squads can be called in reliably when picking a safe drop zone and/or scouting the drop zone with other units. In: COH2 Bugs
Thread: Glider call in12 May 2020, 07:39 AM Paratroopers (and Falls?) can die when they land on top of objects as well. It's the risk associated with the reward of being able to insert a squad anywhere on the map. Pick the drop zone well or risk losing (some members of) the squad because of an unsuccessful landing. Thread: USF Combined Arms Ability ?10 May 2020, 07:05 AM One of the best abilities in the game. Criminally underrated as someone once called it. Mostly underused because a lot of people think/thought it's bugged (ability bonuses not stacking with veterancy bonuses) but that got ~~ninja~~ fixed a long time ago. It's absolutely fantastic for pushes or fending off enemy pushes and it synergizes especially well with Jacksons because it helps them chase enemy vehicles with the extended sight, range and increased ROF. Team weapons count as infantry too so it's pretty easy to activate. I'd personally rate it the second most powerful ability in the game, only just behind a Command Vehicle and a pair of Fireflies or Comets for the UKF. That is from a teamgames perspective though where it's a lot easier to keep your forces close together and to make concentrated pushes. In: COH2 Gameplay

The mobility nerfs and time delays between activating and deactivating it mean that if you use it improperly then you'll get punished. Not entirely. There's almost no way to punish it in a lot of lane maps where flanking it is next to impossible. It's a good concept but the risk barely applies in a lot of maps. It also makes the SU-85 exceptionally good against units like the Tiger II or Brummbar because they obviously can't flank it. I think on average the reward definitely outweighs the potential risk and that's where the ability arguably is too good. Not to mention it goes against the whole combined arms approach of the rest of the game. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: A laudatio on the T70, the Puma, 251 and 2228 May 2020, 15:54 PM Jump back to quoted post8 May 2020, 15:18 PMHannibal And this is also where other vehicles fall short despite being similar: The Luchs is very good AI value for its timing, but the ability to camo is questionable and it has not much to scale to the late game: No recon, no other ability. I do think the Luchs has a vastly superior damage profile compared to the T-70 in terms of balance. The Luchs has enough firepower to force off any squad, it has the ability to chase down and wipe badly mispositioned squads, and it can deal devastating damage point-blank creating an interesting risk-reward mechanic, but it does not have enough DPM to wipe units left and right like the T-70 regularly does and it's worse against retreating squads because it uses accuracy over AOE. So although the T-70 has better scalability, I do consider the Luchs to be a much more balanced vehicle regarding combat power. Fighting against the Luchs always feels fair, while fighting against the T-70 usually doesn't. In: COH2 Gameplay
