Unfortunately, it's not consistent. It's also extremely unlikely with very slow 'ultra-heavy' vehicles, such as the JT.
Luckily it has 70 range and 280 damage to help mitigate that. If you spot for it the enemy shouldn't be able to get anywhere near the literally double the distance the tank can see for itself unscathed. It may not be able to out run it but it certainly, with a modicum of support, kill it before it gets there. |
A T-34 will ram even with engine damage.
It can not start ram "run" with engine damage but it will ram if the engine damage happens during the run.
I guess that's technically true, but again, if the t34 gets into ramming range uncontested and unmolested someone fucked up. If your super heavy tank had nothing between it and the enemy, yes you deserve to hurt. I like the ram combo because it means having a super heavy unsupported will cost you. People need to support their investments and not expect them to win the game by themselves. The tiger ace of old isn't coming back
It's a high risk, higher reward maneuver and I have seen it fail (by encountering a good army composition) more than I have seen it succeed. And yes, even pros can fuck up and get caught out. That's part of the game. |
Many tools? like combat blitz? smoke screen? jacksons sucked back then they couldnt survive anything
Like good vision, high speed, great accuracy, great acceleration, fantastic accuracy on the move... I'm not saying the Jackson was perfect back then, I'm saying adding half again more health and not changing anything else is a shit way to balance a unit who's trademark was being a glass cannon. You can't just take away all of the risk and none of the perks that come with that risk |
Ram in itself isn't necessarily OP, it's the combo with off-map that has no counter which is essentially a guaranteed heavy tank kill on most 2v2 maps that is the problem.
Sacrificing a 90 fuel tank for a 240+ fuel tank is generally a trade you want to make.
Fun fact! The t34 can't ram with engine damage. Coupled with the fact that there is not a single hard at option the axis have that will ever not put the t34 below the crit threshold when combined with a Faust means that assuming you have literally an AT at all and a snare nearby (the likes that are on all core infantry of the axis, including replacement core infantry like fussies and even ostroppen) means that if the enemy feels comfortable diving a 90 fuel investment at your 200+ fuel investment with a stockpile of muni to call in their strafe.... You dun fucked up. That's what they call in the business "fucking up" because throwing that tank and NOT getting the ram off could mean the game. Screen for your tanks (yes, even your 70 range 280 damage ones) and you will find less of an issue. Or, fight over the munitions once in a while instead of turteling the fuel and expecting wumderwaffe to carry you to Moscow. |
They tried that when brits before they got released, mortar pit would have had different shells depending on your bulletins
-heavy rounds, high damage small range
-light rounds, low damage high range
-phosphor rounds
theres a good reason why it was cut
Because those should have been stock? |
If there were any mines at all via airborne I'd imagine they were either delivered via glider or crates.
Fun fact the Japanese tried something similar, however the explosives were meant to be delivered directly to the target, and instead of a glider they used pilots. No sustainable but certainly spectacular |
Something doesn't have to be meta to be unbalanced and there is no reason in "realism" or balance that a guy in the back of a half track should be detecting mines while it zooms around at 60mph firing bazookas and makes the game look like fortnight, may as well let pios sit on the back of tigers detecting mines.
Alright I get it.
For a more realistic approach I propose we change the animation to the sweeper model laying on the hood with the sweeper in front of the half track. This way we get a visual cue there is something fishy. |
Damn really? They had the assassinate ability too which I thought was pretty fun
Yep. Major drag cause airborne in AA is the bees knees.
I think storm's point is that the realism he is talking about is actually somewhat represented in the game already. I dont necessarily agree but its definitely not the same as saying "Tiger should kill tanks in 1 shot cuz irl"
Pathfinders certainly did not have mines. Probably couldnt afford to carry that extra weight with all the crap they had already
Be difficult enough wandering through enemy territory with a radio beacon shoved up their ass without adding explosives to the mix. |
I think that was an ardennes assault feature in the campaign
It was. It isn't anymore because it's broken no paths at all in AA anymore |
Instead of adding new abilities, what do you guys think of reducing the received accuracy by 5-10% for the Pathfinder at Vet 0 along with the ability to reinforce at the beacon. This would differentiate the two pathfinders squads a bit more.
With the change to the pathfinders, it would indirectly buff the airdrop mg/at by allowing for early pushes without having to build an ambulance to reinforce. While making them a bit better than stock due to the self spotting and better durability.
A question I had for the more knowledgeable, do the crewed weapons keep VET stats of crewing infantry? If it does then crewing an MG/AT with a VET 2/3 pathfinder with the additional received accuracy bonus could function like elite support weapons.
Vet does not carry over. |
