For the record, the Pack Howitzer's AOE as a whole is way higher than a regular mortar. If the spread is larger, then damage distribution is higher too (even if max damage is the same).
Cruzz standardized AOE score says
M1 Pack Howitzer AOE: 39.756
GrW 34 AOE: 17.678
leIG ISG AOE: 16.711
The AOE radius is 20% larger, and all AOE distances are 50% larger. On top of that, the scatter on the Pack Howie is considerably better than any mortar's, so it's even more likely to hit with that larger AOE too.
for the record this is not mortar or cheap dirt leig

Pak howie's are effective against static and doesn't mean you dont get an hmg, because you are the one pushing the enemies.

USF currently can turtle up nearly as good as Ostheer
In same time OKW can turtle like brits or be agresive like USF #balanced
Anyway evan wermarht now can be more agresive with panzergranadiers or assgrens

Not only that but the 57mm has to pay a muni cost for it to even be effective against axis mediums. There are about 4 - 5 users on this forum that truly believe in their core that USF ATG and .50cal is OP.

Leig is 70mp cheaper than the pakhowy. And bghq is still cheaper than cpt tech.
OKW can also get walking stuka, which is almost impossible to dodge for the Pak howy. Lost so many of those despite moving it the instant I heard the rockets
