IMO its pretty bad
If it was like, dunno, 200 manpower I'd probably use it as a disposable meme launcher, for all its worth

not to get involved, but coh2 doesn't mimick IRL combat effectiveness either
but rather gaym balance |
"angling" your tank does nothing
always keep your front part of the tank facing the enemy guns, if the sides are exposed, they can hit the rear armor and damage you easier |
Only you seem to be making more "jokes" (that are less funny and more insulting toward a specific person) than any meaningful contribution to the actual thread.
So are the partisan unit "middling" or "Meh" outside the commander?
both of you gotta stop shitting up the thread
and yeah the partisan unit itself is pretty garbage, its reinforce is too expensive, it should be reduced or let cons merge with them |
Well firstly, I disagree that there is this ‘unrestricted’ heavy tank meta. This is partly because I mostly play 1v1 but even in 2v2, I rarely see Sturmtigers and Jagdtigers. Kingtigers and Tigers often make appearances but those have every right to be there. There were German formations that had a lot of those tanks and OKW is pretty specifically based on the 6th Panzer army in the Ardennes on the 16th of December, which had plenty of King Tigers at that time. Even the sturmtiger has a right to be there since it was used in the Ardennes. Panthers also weren’t exactly rare in the Ardennes. If you’re going to make a faction on the Germans that amassed all the equipment they have left for a final counterattack, it makes sense that the faction actually has that equipment.
Late war Germans vs early war Soviets is such disingenuous framing. I agree that the T34/76 and conscripts just armed with rifles make little sense for 1944 but the soviets still have plenty of competent infantry and heavier vehicles. The Wehrmacht also doesn’t have that many late war vehicles either. Tigers, Panthers and Elefants were all at Kursk.
It's not that the BP completely ruins authenticity but it’s the one unit that stands out right now. There is no individual thing in COH2 that is on the level of the BP. Even if I were to grant you that COH2 has a lot of smaller things that don’t make sense, COH3 currently has only one. We might as well remove that one thing. If they want to generate hype with heavy tanks, then why is it only this one vehicle? If they want to do 1944/1945 all over again that is fine by me, but that doesn’t seem to be what the direction is of the DAK and the British. I wouldn’t mind the BP if it was added to the British in COH2 but the vehicle stands out a lot in COH3.
this is the best take on the subject
there is also no need for the black prince because the churchill 7 is more than enough, everything short of a 88mm pak/flak will have a hell of a time to play vs it |
Ostheer despite having same crap load of commanders, doesn't suffer from it. Sure it has meta commanders, which are just almost always a better option (just like soviets), but almost all of them can be picked and played without the feeling that you are intentionally handicapping yourself.
this is because sov get a lot of their power from doctrines. Wehrmacht, on the other hand, has a relatively "complete" arsenal of units and doctrines aren't that crucial to make the faction complete.

You probably are using the weapon to its potential.
Zis with first strike bonus is one of the most cost efficient AT guns in game.
its easily the worst ability i can think up of
You hide your ATG, thats IT. Tank hunter camo hides your atg AND all tanks. wehrmacht camo gives all of your infantry & MG-42, giving them a FIRST STRIKE bonus too
and its not like there's an anti tank gun with non doc camo and with a boost if it fires while camouflaged once it reaches vet 2 or 3

One could start by removing mark target from Mechanized Support Tactics and Guard Motor Coordination Tactics (and moving the ability to two other weaker commanders) while adding a powerful late game off map to Partisan.
During redesign I had also suggested giving them access to doctrinal PAk 40.
That would probably be enough.
average coh2.org solution to balance problems: do not buff weak units, smash the LIVING SHIT out of good doctrines and DONT buff the weak doctrine |
Imagine me being in balance team:
1) Replace AT ambush with Urban defence HQ
2) Replace radio intercept with either scorched earth or Team Weapon drop
????
4) Kinda usable commander
But hey soviets are only allowed to have like 5 actually usable commanders out of all
The AT gun being able to camouflage is probably the most useless feature that holds up a commander slot in the entire game
putting literally anything in it's place would be a buff to the doctrine, ANYTHING |
Yea I don’t mind it’s inclusion and it’s not just me, and there are people that don’t. I doubt everyone is going to be happy but I don’t see anything conclusive about this fiction compared to previous fictional representations, and relic states that in their of dev commentary. I mean we can argue against realities that some units got a re written past and yes it includes the sturmtiger and the JT and the KT if you like but I’m glad to hear relic won’t be arguing that they didn’t see some generous takes on their real life deployments and relic has a grasp on that.
i dont agree with the black prince being added, I'd rather see the churchill 7 and have that be the apex predator of everything that does not have a 88mm gun on it |
