I can make a lot of mistakes with OKW or Soviets and get away with it. Yup, Ostheer is the hardest faction to play. Since the units are so specialized your whole cardhouse of a faction can collapse if you lose a unit - and with the smallest squads in the game that is quite easy. In: COH2 Balance

In COH2 a big reason is probably the fact that the Germans have all the famous tanks. Tigers, Panthers, Kingtiger, etc. The reaon I prefer playing Germans is simply the design of having more specialized, yet more powerful units. I hate throwing away medium tanks by the dozens or rushing blobs into MGs. Also Soviets are way too restrictive: Either you go for Advanced medium tanks OR heavy tanks. It's possible with one doctrine to have advanced mediums and heavy tanks but then you lack Elite infantry. And so on. The quality factions are OKW, Ostheer and Brits. OKW because of the additional vet and Ostheer because of good specialization. Why don't I like playing Brits then? Because those are way too easy and cancerous (Comet, Mortar Pits, double Brens). The most fun and rewarding faction is Ostheer since it has everything available and requires you to combine your arms and think. In: COH2 Balance

If your opponent manages to put an AT squad inside the garrison, your pit is basically dead. You can't supress them inside the building and they can wait for your brace to finish with a little backup. The point still stands as you can also place the mortar pit behind indestructible world objects such as "thick" woods or ruins. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Eastern Front Armies Revamp 17 Jun 2017, 09:30 AM OKW vet has already been nerfed in a previous patch. No need to make it even worse. Meanwhile the Panzer IV gets only a slight penetration buff while the near penetration of the T-34/85 goes down by a whopping 40. Getting rid of the OKW forward retreat means that there is no reason at all to build the med truck outside of the base... which was kind of the key feature of OKW. Again: Trucks - like the vet - also have been nerfed already. Tuning down the gun performance versus infantry of the big German tanks also means Germans get further on the backfoot against superior Allied infantry blobs. Elefant getting a barrage that is only usable between 60 and 70 range? How is that ever going to work? This is real nerfs to units and "compensating" with the most useless of "buffs". Frankly big parts of this patch are terrible. In: COH2 Gameplay

This patch will make it worse: Currently the meta is 90% of Allied vehicles lategame are medium tanks (US Sherman, T-34/76, Cromwells, Lend lease Shermans). - StuG penetration nerf which ultimately also nerfs performance vs mediums - Panther Vet nerf with a slight gun buff that doesn't improve performance versus mediums - Target weakpoint nerf on Paks - Brummbär penetration nerf - Elefant nerf versus medium tanks How is that supposed to fix Ostheers terrible state? Add to that that you are now forced to go Tier 3 for Tier 4 and that the Tiger at leaast recieved a small buff and you will end up with Panzer IV meta into Tiger as only viable option. Still the lategame will be even more tilted towards medium tank abuse of the Allies. GG EZ. My prediciton: More and more Lend lease Sherman and Cromwell spam. In: COH2 Gameplay
