Should the SU85's vision ability be nerfed/removed

Now I'm not saying this ability is OP or anything but this does make this unit be a little too self sufficient. This almost counter acts it's weakness being slow and turret less if it can see nearly 20 range before it's intended target can shoot.

Even though I consider the SU85 to be the most balanced TD out of all of them this still bothers me a little. I think this vision ability should be removed or at least nerfed. This units weakness is that it need combined arms but the ability makes it self sufficient. Now that the soviet pop cap efficiency is a thing I think this ability should be looked at a bit.

It doesnt make the su85 self sufficient. It slows down the su85 it has a cooldown and narrows its vision into a cone. Also the su85 has no ai to speak off.

Thats enough drawbacks for the single upside it gives to get an extra shot off.

So imo no it shoudnt be touched.

True, but a little less being self sufficient would be nice. But idk I just asked a question.

I personally think it is fine now.
Previously it could spot easily for the Katyusha, it is good that this is patched out. Now it basically spots for itself, but it is also the most vulnerable TD that Allies have plus the T34 can often not effectively block a break through attempt to flank the SU85.
I'd leave it as is.

I honestly have no strong feelings about this. It feels fine. ISU paired with SU85 (or any SU85 paired with flares/hidden sniper as recon) is what hits hard, but it's balanced.

There's a significant danger that you can get swiss cheesed by JP4s now, rather than gradually backing off if you see them at 75. 65 -> 60 range isn't far and after the SU-85 opens fire, the JP4 can fire back with FOW accuracy penalty. Elefant usually has spotting scopes and now can get first strike on you before you even know it's there. Before you could just spot and use AT guns to zone out TDs with little risk as you had sight on them at all times and they couldn't even hit the SU-85. Didn't matter whether it was with AT guns or Elefant (loses sight bonus instantly on moving) or JP4s.

tl;dr: Seems fine to me now.

Focused vision is fine, i would had replaced tracking long time ago as it's generally redundant.

Although what i suggested in the past was basically converted into a commander ability (Ambush from Dank Hunters)

Focused vision should be changed since it stacks with tracking and Soviet already have great reckon tools.

A SU-85 with focus sight/tracking has better los than IRHT...

The ability should me move to vet 1, (SU-85 has little reason to have trucking to begin with) and become timed instead of toggle.

I disagree, soviets have most stock recon tools/abilities indeed but they are not passive like spotting scopes, they effect t70 and su85 in a negative way or cost muni per timed use, unlike spotting scopes pio's or volks sight when in cover.

The su85 is considered the most balanced td by a lot of players, we dont need to lock a non problem behind vet. The stacking effect of focused sight and tracking is less strong because of the speed penalty focused sight gives along with it having a cooldown, wich can effect is survivability just as the speed debuff can.

The stock ability of SU-85 can be justified by spotting scope which is doctrinal ability and not that great unless on vetted reckon vehicle.

Su-85 has not reason to have trucking as is vet 1 ability, it does need the extra sight nor the mini map info.

That is factually incorrect.
40% sight increase -IS- that great on all units that have sight.

Its batshit insane on unvetted recon vehicles.
Its legit map hack on vetted recon vehicles.

Why?

Feel free to start a thread about scoping scopes if you want to talk about them.

Why?

Because a TD should not have an ability that is a better versions of the 222's"Infantry Awareness" ability.

But why?

"because they shouldn't have it and there exist completely unrelated ability on completely different vehicle in opposing faction" is not a reason really.
