Soviets Mark Target

With the upcoming patch and now with some extra time, this is a perfect combo to propose some changes. Like always, you can test it out with my mod.



This show cases aircraft health, as oppose to instant death, and a change to the Soviet's mark target. The mark target effect in live continues for the full duration regardless what happens to the aircraft. The mark target can be tailored to the aircraft so if the aircraft dies, the effect ends which allows more counter-play.

And sorry for the lack of audio. Youtube does not like separate audio tracks...

The problem with mark target is the commanders it available and not the ability itself. It should not be combined with ISU-152 or T-34/85

The synergy in those commanders is most notable from guards and mark target, not the tanks. Mark target would be weaker with shocks instead even if it had IS2s or M4Cs.

What about mark target of other factions?
Its completely uncounterable.

You already counter it by backing off the fight.
Nothing more is needed here.

The Ability is fine as it is. You counter the ability by just reversing your tank and waiting for it to go away.

I like the idea of it being linked to the plane, but it would need more than just that, like a cost reduction or something.

Frankly. The soviet would greatly benifit from mark target being changed from its current damage increase to the USF version that makes targets easier to hit and pen.

yes it is too much!

in old times, allies needed because of stronger axis armor. today, mark target is too strong.

You may be confusing mark target with mark target combined with guards button ability. Something i mentioned in a previous post. One of the things that makes mark target strong is that you can combo it with guards button to also reduce the enemy vehicle speed.
But mark target alone does not do it

The ability is fine. Imo, the commanders and the synergy in some cases is the problem.

Agreed. As mentioned, if it were in say shock heavy instead of motorized, it wouldn't be nearly as powerful.

yes you are right. the combination is very strong! needs to decouple them somewhat

decouple the munitions from their territory and it wont be an issue. the combo requires a special unit of infantry, a 75mu upgrade, then a further 40 mu for button and another 80 for mark target. thats nearly 200mu for the first use and the squad cant move or the ability is halted. it can absolutley be very powerful, but any effort at all will counter it

THAT SAID, i maintain imark target would be better designed, especially for the soviet as a target size increase and armour debuff. this would allow units like guards, and su76 and t34s and what not do a little better against harder armour instead of making already good units better. it would also remove the synergy of combining with strikes to nuke high health units.

This was a solution when mark target was much stronger AND it used to stack. It's not needed nowadays.


You could argue if ALL mark vehicle type of abilities should follow the same model as the USF one of making shots more accurate and easier to pen.

Mark target is fine, holy cow you mean i cant shove a panther in your azz and use it as a MG carrier. Try using any sherman its like it has permanent mark target on its back.

Keep in mind they also want to nerf 152 to make it dangerous to use it how most people do with its AI rounds, more the reason mark target shouldnt change as they want to make the 152 into a sitting duck.
