Hi, I recently got a flak half-track bulletin in war spoils, and it got me thinking, what is the best way to use the flak half-track, because on paper it seems quite good, but I just can't seem to get the best out of it?
Also if not the Flak half-track, then can anyone recommend efficient midgame units to use, and how to use them?
Thanks
The flak-track is very useful to force an am or soviet player to spend mp and ammo on AT. if the soviet player goes tier 1 he is in trouble as flak tracks make short work of guards in the open and tier 1 has no counters. midgame this unit is used to guard positions.

Um, the M2HB is just a Maxim without any of its flaws (narrow fire cone, etc). Its setup time is even LOWER than the Maxim. How can you find it easier to flank?
Should have said its easier to pull a successful flank with it. am 50 cal has a lot less hp |
If you would, you'd instantly think maxim is balanced(and it is).
USF HMG makes DSHK look like pioneers look next to obersoldaten.
and here i thought you couldn't sink any lower. yes the 50 cal is good but perfectly balanced. why? because the damn thing can be flanked something that cannot be said for the maxim. anyone not capable of dealing with flanks with the maxim (regardless of the maxim rather smallish cone) is a likely suffering some kind of disease that prohibits good hand eye coordination. |
the entire OKW makes zero sense.
Technologically sophisticated - okay. Sure .
Resuorce starved - what? Germans made more tanks in 1944 than they did in any other year, for example in 1944 germans made 27000 AFV and soviets made 28000. However, the quality of their armor did decrease during 44-45, but that is also not reflected in game. King tigers get fantasy-nigh inpenetrable armor.
Battle hardened- What? - I'm sorry, but by 44 all german veterans were eighter dead or horribly injured and thus unable to fight. German infantry quality in 44 was worse than it was in 43, 42, 41 and so on.
Steel production was not universally bad KT"S that had the good quality steel where very difficult to take out and most where either abandoned because of fuel shortage or mechanical failure |
the only things that needs to be done now is to change the abomination that is called a maxim. increase its arc but give it a hefty packup time so people can actually flank this will eliminate the maxim spam bullshit |
slightly increase the volks dps or reduce the mp cost to 200. |
Not true. Jacksons can put the hurt on Panthers/Tigers and the AT gun has an ability to basically guarantee penetration... I can upload a replay to show you this (Jackson's/AT gun killing panthers).
interesting i have heard a lot of complaining about the AT capabilities of the ami's and every time i managed to get a tiger or KT out it was game over for the ami however you many have a point that the player is the problem as most player let their m10/jackson be destroyed. |
On the side not the Ami's at late game is far to weak with the jackson and the 57 at gun units having not enough penetration to deal with german heavies. |
Oh no! Its not like OKW can make pumas, jagdpanzers, panthers, puppchens and the like by 10 CP!
That the counters exist is not the issue. its the rather large fuel advantage call in provides. you dont need to tech up and safe yourself a good 100 fuel so you can pump out more tanks then your opponent. in 1vs1 this is very prominent.
I would say every faction should be required to tech to gain access to their call in tanks. this makes non call in doctrines a lot more appealing. |
Its wrong to believe infantry unit is balanced if you need a TANK to counter it cost effectively.
Shocks are restricted by doctrine, have clear exploitable weakness, will loose to 1 gren+pgren or 1 volk+sturmpio, are completely incapable of killing anything that have retreat mark on it unless it have 10 hp left.
How many squads you need to counter obers in green cover? 5? 7?
My fuck is not given. OS would be completely OP in another faction. But this is the OKW and considering the handicaps of the faction this unit is very much needed. you dont need a tank to defeat this unit but it id clear that this unit is their to make sure infantry spam is not effective against the okw late game. the okw is already slightly UP overall and dont need nerfs. |
