Thread: Stats are in... Some obvious factions to address!19 Jan 2018, 22:36 PM The sentiment that ostheer is lacking goes back any number of patches. One of the original intents of the community patches were to address that sentiment. MG42 0.75 accuracy modifier versus Snipers (down from 1.5). Isn't this a penalty? I think it means it has a lower accuracy vs snipers than regular infantry. Please correct me if I am wrong, because I am baffled as to why the 222's anti infantry gun has a penalty vs snipers but not regular infantry. Especially when the 222 is suppose to be effective vs snipers Because sniper cloaking was completely altered to eliminate players from being able to expose their snipers and quickly recloak into cover after firing. The 222 was changed into ostheers anti light tank/vehicle option. This was imbalanced so the fuel was increased to 30 to nerf the effects of that change. The 222 stopped being a sniper counter to become a fill-in for anti tank because the goal was to break the panic puma meta. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Give Assault Grenadiers Faust19 Jan 2018, 15:29 PM Smoke grenades for assault grens isn't a bad idea. They'd be like firestorm volks and shocks, which seems appropriate. Assault grenadiers if they ever were to get faust should at least require t1 be built and probably an additional reqiirement like vet1, like riflemen at rifle nades. In: COH2 Balance

The tanks that sink as you describe on ice is because the difference between the ice (water level) and the ground that a portion of the tank is on is higher than .5 meters (I believe this is the max, but it might be .6, cant remember). You could have a tank drive on ice, have the ice break and NOT SINK, but the way maps are made it currently bugs out hard because the ground level and water level are so drastic in such a short distance. You could make an entire map with water/ice (for sliding effect on vehicles) that NEVER sink, if done correctly. I did this on, the 2nd map (?) I had ever streamed and tested, just to see if it worked. TLDR; the same rules apply for water shallows as they do for ice shallows. Good to know. 0.5 is certainly the magic number for worldbuilder Point is though, shallow ice never functionally materialized in coh2, ostensibly due to this kind of subtle nuance in map design that had massive gameplay implications. Thread: Who kills who ?17 Jan 2018, 21:42 PM Range is much less of a factor for IS as being in cover or not. In cover, IS beat Grens at all ranges, although at close range it's rather a dice roll. Realistically whichever squad has to close in or has to move loses. Out of cover, grens win at all ranges, but are closer to a dice roll. This has everything to do with british infantry gaining their offensive advantage by being in cover, rather than at a specific range. The accuracy differences between close and long range for IS is rather small, and the bonuses are the same across all ranges. Bolstered IS always beat grens unless they're out of cover versus grens in cover. Panzergrens wreck REs unless the pgrens are having to close the distance against RES on cover. I'm not sure pgrens can even beat conscripts doing that. In: Ostheer Strategies

(I had not realised OKW got the deep snow manouevarability advantage you mention). I do believe issues with deep snow, ice, and blizzards were conflated and removed by association. I agree that the bigger issue was deep snow and map design. But, as far as ice is concerned, it's heavily flawed: all ice is the same, whereas there is water that is shallow enough to cross with units. Since there's no differentiation of depth for ice, you have tanks phasing through solid ground because the front tracks were on 1 inch deep ice. This is still actually a problem and wasn't fixed by removing cold tech. Also I don't remember now if volks schrecks allowed for volks to move through deep snow (I think just sturm pios aren't slowed by terrain type, and even them I think it really only affects water, not deep snow.) I think the immunity was from losing temperature in deep snow. Gad it's been a while since that time. In: COH2 Gameplay

Since I don't know exactly how FMR works and I won't be able to check until tonight, I would wager that it is worth testing. Look under FMR for how it triggers. For example, I think it's the Hulldown ability for ostheer that is actually innate to their vehicles but it's unlocked when the commander with Hulldown is chosen. There could be some similar trigger to FMR that requires the commander pick to work correctly. (Though in that case it shouldn't be crashing I don't think....) In: Modding and Tools

To be fair, removal of blizzards appeared to be the best option. There was ample opportunity to make it a meaningful, dynamic, and fun mechanic. Once it was clear no effort would be spent on fixing it, removal of cold tech was kind of one of two options: the other being leaving it in as it was. In: COH2 Gameplay
Thread: Trigger commander ability global action?17 Jan 2018, 15:21 PM It might be trying to apply FMR onto the player rather than units. I don't know how FMR works exactly, but you may need to change the action's target for the delay. Look at exactly how FMR triggers and how it is targeted. It may not act on the player level.
