Thread: Spring Update - Port of Hamburg18 Apr 2018, 15:06 PM Good I just wanted to point out that the current live version is imbalanced. If it were me I would: 1. Remove some of the canal north of the middle VP (as above). It would not take much. To give the north army a bigger area to spread out. 2. Remove the small building overlooking Left VP. When pushed the bottleneck it creates makes it hard to defend that area. 3. Remove some of the high fence south of the left fuel. And possible add a wall or some other cover there. When pushed south team has no cover just a large road area. 4. Remove the two large cargo containers just south of middle VP. Use something that can be destroyed by mid game. It creates a bottleneck when defending middle VP. 5. Rework the area just northwest of the middle VP. It is a cluster and creates vague engagements. 6. Remove the stupid sight blocking shrubs north of the middle VP. Derp. That would be a good start.... In: Lobby
Thread: Cannot beat a classic18 Apr 2018, 13:53 PM A lot of the suggestions like arty are nice, however, that wont help you 2 minutes into the game. Unless you can build a Katy at the 2:00 mark? Kappa In team games the first MGs to arrive are key to holding that ground. So make a mortar as your 3rd or 4th unit. By then you will have infantry on the line and can assess the number of MGs/mortars you will be facing. The real issue is having grenades and CQC units to take advantage of getting close to the MGs. Remember, mortar is designed to force the MG to move, not to let you kill it easily. And smoke will let you take points right in front of an MG since they do not have attack ground. It is much better at wiping vet squads on the move without any sight because relic things And the most important TroyD tip of the day is that smoke is also effective against snipers...The more you know.... Thread: Spring Update - Port of Hamburg18 Apr 2018, 13:42 PM This map is still very unbalanced. When the teams are balanced skill wise this is what I see: 1. Fighting to the fuels from North is harder than from south. Especially on the right side. Every game at my level the people on the right side never see the fuel until end game. Usually the north right team positions get smashed all game and pushed back to the middle. This is mostly from the strength of the house and the narrow opening between the northern territory point area. The left is slightly biased to the North side to make up the difference but the garrison has much less value as it can be attacked with grenades or flames quit easily. 2. Late game, the North teams tend to be massed on the narrow middle bridge above the middle star. Everyone knows this and artillery erases whatever is there. So the North team has no effective way to push the middle star. Which is where every single game ends. If North team does not have a strong mid game, they will lose late game badly. The bridge area needs to be much larger. Remove some of the canal north of the bride to increase land mass. 3. Using the worldbuilder are the distances to each fuel building the same? In: Lobby

This needs a lot of coordination between the players. 1. You get close to the line hit SMOKE RAID (60 munis). Smoke floods the area. 2. Hit ASSAULT to make your units push better (optional but 90 Munis). 3. Throw grenades on the MGs. This strat works early-mid game since it requires 3 CPs to unlock the smoke raid. One of the statistics guys can affirm, but the ASSUALT adds a little sprint to get you past the MGs etc. It may have been nerfed this patch to move slower. Last patch, the inf could sprint right thru the MGs if timed right. No need for smoke at all. It was bat-shit OP. Which brings up the issue I have with commanders. Picking the right commander should not drastically change the game. But generically it seems the pros say: BRITS - Smoke, Grenades, Mortar pit. USF - Mortar Smoke, grenades, mortar half tracks. SOV - Smoke, 120mm mortar, Con sprint w/ppsh or shocks to get close and deal damage. SKIP MY RAMBLING I think the thing that trips everyone up is that things are meant to counter at certain times in this game. Each thing allows you some domination time. Along the order of 1-4 minutes. Where everyone thinks they made X, I need to counter with Y. And if Y does not quickly counter, then the game is busted or imbalanced. You did not anticipate unit X so you lose territory for a certain time period. That is how I feel about bunkers, bofors, etc. They are not meant to win the game. Just buy you time in the VP race. Thread: Cannot beat a classic11 Apr 2018, 15:21 PM Last patch the best I ever saw was a brit using Commando Regiment. Combo of smoke raid and Assault abilites ran thru the MGs and REKT everything. Of course Brit commandos would decimate that line last patch as well. Have I been playing this game long enough to yearn for past patches (scared) In: Strategy Desk

NUMBER 5 Your close quarters units refusing to fight close quarters because there is some yellow cover nearby so they snap to it like magnets while you are trying to close ground on the enemy. It is very annoying to rush Sturms into a squad just to have them turn around and move back 5 meters cause a stick is on the ground. In: COH2 Balance

Indirect fire options are very strong compared to OKW, Ost can keep up for the most part. Infantry is in a good spot. Brits Double bren Tommies are overperforming, they should be limited to one LMG. Indirect fire options are lacking now that the mortar pit has been nerfed into the ground. Lack of vehicle snare can be really painful. Firefly feels very balanced compared to the Jackson. Soviets All openers (Cons/T1/T2) are very strong. Sniper being OP on most maps. Katyusha is way too effective at long range. It can safely get wipes and vets up very quickly. SU76 is over-performing. Its range/pen need to go down, and the barrage needs to cost munitions. SU85 is a monster with vet, possibly over-performing. PPSH cons are too cost-effective, leaving Shocks with no place in the game. Guards are back to being the jack of all trades elite inf. The buff to PTRS damage vs infantry was completely unnecessary. Ost Mortar is over-performing, especially vs Brits early game. Grens are incredibly fragile mid/late game; I'd love to see a 5th man either via vet like REs or via upgrade like Brits. 222 is a joke unit that really needs some love vs snipers especially. Panther is in an awkward spot. Is it a TD, or is it a brawler? Pick one and give it the same treatment that its allied counterparts get. OKW Good aggressive early game. Vet system needs an overhaul, right now it's inconsistent and often detrimental. Make vet levels 1-3 equal in strength and attainability to other factions and levels 4 & 5 unlock abilities across the board. Popcap numbers need to be brought down on a lot of units now that they're not nearly as strong; vehicles mostly. Struggles vs both maxim and sniper openers from Soviets. Same Panther issues as Ost. This post was too well written, not overtly biased, and efficiently presented. It also failed to mock noobs or incite hatred. Please leave In: COH2 Balance
Thread: Need help7 Apr 2018, 16:25 PM SH1 You may want to post your video settings as well. This game is brutal on PCs. Any laptop may struggle to play it as it needs a decent CPU to calc unit vision and movement. And a decent videocard to draw the multi-layered graphics. The slowest Videocard I have is a GTX 760 which plays decently at LOW settings. And your GT525M is about 1/10th as fast as a GTX 760. Sometimes laptop GPUs share main memory with the CPU and therefore do not perform anywhere near what they should. easiest thing to do is set everything to LOW and start from there.
