How about just stop letting this helpinghans guy play in tounaments you organize if he is just undermining them? Or do you need him more than he needs you?
Another reason I made the poll. So that it does not become a popularity contest. So it is not decided behind closed doors by a select few (most of which are against Hans in this thread).
Because the obvious answer is have a ruling body as part of COH2.Org that makes the tournament, rules, allowable times, who is banned from play, etc. So each tourney could have a seal of approval that it is legit. Thus removing any grey areas. But it may divide the community further because most of the people making the rulings would be people against Hans, etc.
So I nominate Sturmpanther as Lord and Dictator of all COH2. Heil Sturmpanther!

And we should just talk about this in a Discord / Teamspeak. Make agreements, don't fight about what happened, because now we cannot turn back time and change the events.

This is a good discussion to have. I wouldn't say that nothing good is going to come out of this because we as organisers are speaking out about how we feel about this. The most important thing is that instead of this 'unspoken code of conduct' we have opened a debate so everyone can have their say about it.
Following all the points here. Rules will be updated, guidelines will be established and sanctions created to ensure that situations like this are clear cut when someone breaks the rules.
This is exactly what I hoped would come of this discussion and poll I created (against my will). TOs could get a feel for what the community wants and create some rules posted on this site somewhere in the streaming area. To go even further there could be an official COH2.ORG seal that could bee added to your broadcast to help create a place where viewers/streamers could get to this information easily. |
For MMA fans, Joe Rogan routinely does a podcast during a UFC event. He is just chatting with friends as THEY watch. None of the broadcast is shown or heard in the podcast. So it is a casual party atmosphere.
This seems like a possible option for COH2 streamers. This would allow for viewers to hang out, to hear the streamers thoughts, AND would encourage them to watch the original tournament stream.
I also like this approach because my Inet sucks. And sometimes I can not watch multiple streams. So I could have audio/chat only from the streamer and full broadcast of the tourney. More available options for everyone. |
Rosbone this poll misses the mark horribly, I don't think you've fully read the thread have you?
This is not about the Stormless thread. But the thread touched on streaming during others broadcasts. And I thought some of that would get hashed out in the Stormless thread, but it got locked before any good could come of it.
EDIT: And Hans has an even greyer twist in that he is a variety streamer. So many of his viewers may never watch the tournament anyway. They tune in for Hans only. |
A great part of this community is how the streamers seem to support each other. But the area of streaming during a tournament is a grey area. Some people frown on a large streamer streaming during a tournament. Some do not care.
I would like to see the continued support where large streamers step down when a tournament is on. But it gets grey again if there are tournaments every weekend and they run for long periods of time. As this cuts in to prime time streaming.

I don't really get the hate for RNG. Real life also has RNG if you think of it. Nothing is perfect.
The problem is Relics version of RNG. It is not random at all. If you are playing and can predict what is about to happen, it is not random.
Relics RNG focuses on drastic changes in game dynamics. Planes always land on your army. Mortars sniping your units outside the FOW. Mortars landing no where near their target so they can blow up a mine you just laid. You pen a tank every time until the tank starts to retreat, then nothing will pen ever again (always at around 5% health it becomes invulnerable) etc etc etc
As I said, the RNG gives the game a lot of replayability. Which is great. But it also drives a lot of players away from the game because there is too much "RNG". |

No this is where your logic broke down. The game is horrid. So no one plays it and therefore there is no one to play against. Thus, the match making is bad.

I agree. As I state all the time, 95% of this game is amazing. Playing army at a decent pace with just the right amount of micro, base building, etc. Fantastic. Then unbalanced factions, RNG, and limited maps create boredom. Learn the meta for your army, the weaknesses of the other army, and then where and when to attack the map. Rinse and repeat. The only thing to stem the boredom is RNG. So then you are not playing your opponent anymore you are playing the game. |
1. NERF THE SHIT OUT OF THE MORTAR AND ARTILLERY!!! Manual barrage only with huge scatter that dials in after each shot. Complete no brainer here. WTF?
2. Fix the map objects that block sight. Some bushes do some dont. And when you put them all together in a bunch TrueSight falls apart fast. Sight blockers need to be obvious.
3. Fix the buildings with no windows that people can shoot into but you cant shoot out of.
4. Return the COH1 resources options Low, Mid, High, etc. Some maps have points so far apart there is no reason to take them. This leads to camping. Could help team game maps as well.
5. Fix the "server decided you die" code. COH decides the outcome then plays it out regardless of the players interactions. You dodged that Katy barrage? Too F'ing bad your shit got rekt! Too much of this game is out of the players control. If an FPS can be played over the inet, I think you can actually let projectiles travel a random path and see what happens. Instead of imposing the "this is what we decided" so the projectile turns 45 degrees mid flight to kill you.
6. Make it more obvious that 1 or 2 models cant see the enemy they are targeting. It looks so bad when 3 guys are in a heated gun battle and guy #4 is smoking a cigarette because a leaf is in his way for sight. Maybe blink the guy or put a small icon on his head. It would be best if they actually moved into a fighting position but that is some tough code to write.
7. Get rid of the "a vehicle is driving around so I cant shoot now" code. I would rather a tank phases thru my army and still gets snared than have a high priced squad all upgraded that never shoots???
8. Maybe add a third status bar for units that fire slowly so you know when they are going to shoot.
9. Nerf snipers health a little. And remove 2 man sniper team. Again, no brainer. vCOH snipers felt more squishy, less tanky. Maybe reduce cost a little.
10. Variety. The different factions keep the game fresh. But some of the maps are just no fun to play after the weaknesses are found. Rotate maps in/out of the game more frequently. Have a voting system in place (Count vetoes on the server maybe) so the really bad maps are removed/fixed. Cycle could be add, fix 3 mos later, remove if vetoed by all factions frequently. |
