I'm saying that I don't see how pgrens are more flexible. Shocks need to get close. Pgrens still need to be at least midrange. Even cons will beat pgrens at max range. However shocks can always afford to charge due to having cheap smoke and simply being a beefier, armored squad. Pgrens don't have to kiss to the enemy to work. If shocks are facing fussies or ass grens they have 1 place they need to be- on top of them no ifs ands or buts pgrens can afford to stock in cover for some engagements. If they are fighting Tommy's they CAN close for an advantage if the cover is there and if they are fighting sappers they can sit and shoot on approach. That's their flexibility not to mention the ability to transition to emergency AT. Shocks are great at 1 thing pgrens are good at a couple. All I'm saying. Plus there is not a single doctrine with a tiger or elefant or command tank or Pak or arty or railway or OPel blitz trucks ect that does not have pgrens. The availability alone is a huge boon as they allow the flexibility to pick what you want without losing out In: COH2 Balance

Ost doesn't just fight rifles and buffing them because of that is exactly why volks have to have STGs and exactly why cons are mostly useless. It's all a chain of effects and "great at all ranges and also can double arm to ensure they can spank elite infantry" design is at the heart. Pgrens are great against the Soviet. It's WFA that trips them up. They are designed to be non doc elite infantry. Combined with ambush/sprint they are spooky shit even for WFA. they are not designed to just out and win everything. I fail to see how "shocks can just wait around a sight blocker and eat things" is acceptable but doing the same with pgrens is not.. In: COH2 Balance

Tbh the crew being more than an ornament was a really neat thing. It's cheap and generally underwhelming but having the crew contribute was a small thing that helped slightly reduce its shortcomings imo (its slight to be sure, but that's what we're looking at right?) Thread: OKW HMG3414 Jun 2018, 19:40 PM It's an alright support weapon and it's the cheapest one there is. Okw isn't designed to be leaning on team weapons like Ost, they are support not the focus. Like the rakk it's a serviceable weapon that isn't up to the standard but does do its job. You need to spot for it but it does do its job. In: COH2 Balance

Hyperbole of course. My point is they cannot function as defenders sitting behind cover dealing damage at range, while obviously not excelling at it it is an option for pgrens should they need to be called into that role In: COH2 Balance

Teams have 6 man squads as a teching bonus. It's as a design bonus. I don't know why you have your panties in such a twist here all I did was make a joke about how the Soviet are the only faction that doesn't get gifted bonuses just for teching up. That's it. I don't think it's a balance concern, nor do I think grens getting stuff via battle phases is a problem (as matter of fact I thibk they should get MORE things from battle phases to make it more unique instead of an archaic underutilized tech structure) Grens are the only mainline infantry not t0 (t1 is cheap as balls, but they are still slightly delayed) I don't see an issue with skipable squad getting kitted out with progression. They have 1 effective role and that's getting into knife range and doing well there. God forbid pgrens who can engage out to mid range lose to a squad designed to win at close range and LITERALLY nothing else full stop. Christ. You want your cake and to eat and to make sure nobody else has any cake and have to watch as you smear it across your maw don't you? In: COH2 Balance

Nobody can say the maxim is up to snuff for 260mp MG outside its 6 man crew. Mg34 is comparable in performance but is a chunk cheaper as well, before this overhaul the mortar too was clearly inferior. The zis while versatile is also "worse" in its AT role than 4 man crewed AT guns (although that barrage is pretty tight, should probably be a vet ability tbh...) the 6 man squads is a design choice clearly offset by performance. An example of 6 men being a teching perk would be- cons are green clones, when t3 is built they get an extra model so they can trounce them like Tommy's do then at t4 they get another model. That's not the case. They pay for durability with performance across the board. Also, is the Pak howi a Soviet weapon team or is its 6 man squad a perk from teching? OH and also iirc the 120mm is now a 5 man squad... In: COH2 Balance

Merge is great and all but it's counteract Ed by absolutely no way to heal in field outside a single doctrine and their tech prices line up more or less when the side grades are added. They are not getting free squads or artillery or recon or AA doom emplacement or field reinforcement or their snares/nades/weapon upgrades just for teching up and they are the only faction to do so. At any rate it wasn't a complaint oflr criticism it was a joke cause "communism is for people who want free shit" In: COH2 Balance
