That means planning is required and if caught on infiltration before the upgrade they are poorly armed and can be fought off. A proper infiltration would require time and I think that's a fair trade off for popping up behind the enemy lines. In: COH2 Balance

At vet3 with ambush bonus the g43 has a 97% chance to hit retreating units at max range, still an 87% chance while retreating through cover. Compare to the actual snipers and the relatively cheap cost to leave this squad cloaked on retreat paths. Even tying and scaling the first strike to vet. A vet 5 unit ambushing units getting such a bonus on retreat would be at least somewhat easier to swallow. Maybe 10% per level of vet say? In: COH2 Balance

Thread: Rework Penals29 Dec 2018, 17:34 PM Buffing 1 unit to make it fit in with 4 overperforming units is what we call power creep. Buffing cons upsets the balance between cons to be combat viable vs volks upsets the balance between grens and runs the risk of making penals less cost effecient relatively. Penals are expensive but that doesn't make them balanced for their timing. Having penals as is and keeping cons crap is like adding Obers to okw t0 instead of STGs-sure it gives them firepower but upsets everything in that they thwomp all enemy infantry no contest. Penals should certainly be strong, but not as strong out of the gate. Soviet lack a proper munition sink but suffer from heavy manpower investment in EVERYTHING from teching to fielding not garbage infantry. Seems straightforward to me... The biggest issue with penals is the seamless transition into countering their own counter (via ptrs upgrade) making the choice of pumping out powerful AI infantry a non issue. AT and AI should be a split decision not a progression. In: COH2 Balance

The initial design of maxim and mg42 was: - MG42 has wider arc, but lower mobility. It supposed to be used defensively but it can suppress widelyspread groups of infantry. - Maxim has much less arc, but high mobility. It's supposed to be used actively - it cannot suppress widely spread groups, you constantly need to take better position. For now maxm has larger arc, but suppression was nerfed IMO too much. The arc is still less than of MG42, the speed is only faster when packing up. I think if we lower maxim price now, it can only lead to more spamming. We need to make maxim effective again. Maybe decrease firing arc again, but give the proper suppression we need to stop trying to tie soviet special units to the same price point as their counterparts. something like a machine gun if cheap will be spammed, if not good will be avoided. it needs to just accept that with a 6 man crew AND the stats required to actually function, it will be worth more than its counterparts. bump it to 280/300mp and make it function properly as a machine gun. you cut out the spam by making it too expensive. you sort of force con support just so there is field control. the maxim becomes support becaiuse you cant afford to have one everywhere (or rather 2 everywhere) the 6 man crew makes it too hard to line up beside its counterparts as an equal Jump back to quoted post29 Dec 2018, 15:18 PMKatitof And speaking of flawed theories, why won't you reply? Thread: Rework Penals29 Dec 2018, 01:43 AM what i have been playing with the idea of: reduce penal price to ~270-280mp, armed with guards mosins armed with satchels upgrade to SVTs , t0 hq upgrade required satchel removed oorah added upgrade to ptrs adds same AT package as now, but is tied to AT tech mutually exclusive upgrades for penals. soviet t0 has molitovs removed from tech, molitovs are given to cons as vet 1 ability with increased cooldown. AT nades adds a weak standard grenade to cons empty slot in t0 tech added : weapon production improved- same price as weapon racks unlocks SVT upgrade for penals unlocks DP-28 upgrade for guards unlocks passive 2 guards mosins for cons allows shocks to throw smaoke/ nade exclusively (shared cooldown when not unlocked) In: COH2 Balance

I'm theory. If you have it as a 223 you likely want it away from fighting because it dies quickly and yuu want those resources sank into getting you resources, not camping out to try and eventually lay mines. If it's the 221 all you want from it is to wait until it upgrades and then see above. The major also has shared vet but it seems that despite that units set up a mile behind the front don't collect alot of vet... In: COH2 Balance

On some maps there's just too many buildings that you'll be spending all your Muni if you try to cover them Remember when mining doorways was a way to punish enemies mindlessly infiltrating behind your lines? But it was deemed OP to use your munitions to defend your flanks from the enemy popping up and wiping your units? Biggest issue I see with infiltration units is that not all factions have equal access to a means of countering garrisons like flames. Soviet and Ost are well equipped to destroy buildings but others need much more effort and/or doctrinal resources. In: COH2 Balance
