My wish would be to get a light TD somewhat similar to the StuG/Panther duo that works in at least 2v2 as well. But I'll just end my rant here about the M10.
I hope balance team considers doing something about the unit, in my opinion more is needed than just "fixing" the underwhelming ROF vet, but the final decisions are obviously not up to me. I provided all my arguments against the current M10 and leave it at that for other discussions.
. USF light/medium AT vet is fucked. The 57mm gets less rof from all 3 levels of vet than others do at vet 2 alone. Even the soviet baby AT gun gets more ROF. I really wish some vet was standard, or at least consistent.
In team games the m10s value is being able to get a TD if the enemy cached up or held your fuel for a bit and you sre on the back foot. It's a stop gap for team games, not a primary AT source. For USF of all factions this is OK, since that vet won't go to waste when you do replace it.
As an AT unit it's pretty solid, as a USF AT unit it looks bad... Slap that puppy in any other faction and it's lovely. The issue is that the cost difference between it and the Jackson arnt truly huge (not like the m10 and the firefly for example) and the format is the same (compare to the casemate of soviet or Ostheer)
It kinda falls into the same trap as the su76 where it's AT isn't that great for the cost difference of the top end TD despite the unit itself being solid. Generally if you want AT you are going to wait it out for the clearly superior unit that tackles the threat in the same manner and is more forgiving.
Uh yeah, sounds fine to me. I just find weird that so many people are pissed off by retreat. I don't see it ever being used except for when the at gun is recrewed under heavy fire, which honestly probably benefits team weapon stealer more than owner.
I played a game the other day where after the okw player lost their Vetted infantry they replaced them with raks. Since we were soviet we lacked to the centralized DPS to actually burst down models and since their own Vetted infantry were gone they were not going to win the infantry fight anyway. Was really fucking annoying tbh...
It was more a question than a statement. I havnt played the vanilla campaign in a dog's age, but I thought there were "lesser" AT in the campaign and early TOW missions
You seem to be confused
If the map fits it, Mp40 volks are much better than stg volks in late game. Their smoke and grenade alone makes them much better, and when they are vetted their extra RA bonus makes them an actually durable mainline. Not only that but mp40s scale better. The problem is not that mp40s aren't good or stg44 are too good, the problem is that OKW isn't coh Wehrmacht and doesn't have Grenadiers with double mg42 right after volks.
Also what you proposed is for stg44 to have even a bigger powerspike by removing the muni dump
The problem with current STGs isn't so much the spike, it's the timing of the spike and how that combination holds volks back.
The idea with my proposal is that the STGs help both packages as well as takes some late game weight off of JUST vet, which withiut volks are quite weak.
The point of the MP40 is exclusively to make an actual thought process involved in picking upgrades. Even in an open map, having smoke would be attractive, so you will want to mix at least one in for assaults.
Wirhout volks being walmart riflemen they could have their cost and pop reduced again freeing up more room for obers and what not.
Changes to making okw more pleasant has to start at making volks less stupid
Is it possible to buff Major's RA a little bit? It is quite hard to use the unit at all without losing it
thats pretty squiffy imo. did you know the major arty range isnt reduced with suppression? that means you can wealk up to an MG in a building and call in arty even if suppressed .... id be worried if that wasnt punished by focus fire.....
